bookies need to re look at reserve runner betting deduction rule
14 years 3 months ago
the 9th race today in kimberley any antepost bets prior to the scratching of xanadu king has 30 percent deducted off it which is fine BUT THE RESERVE RUNNER GETS A RUN AND IS PRICED UP AT 7 TO 2 AND THE BALANCE OF THE FIELD REMAINS MORE OR LESS THE SAME PRICE.surely the reserve runner having a major chance in the race should then reduce the 30 percent deduction to around 10 percent...how much longer will bookies get away with this ?

Well spotted Pirates.
It would seem that it would be fair to reduce by 30% and then ADD BACK 25% ,being the percentage applicable to the replacement(ie.@7/2)
The nett result should be a deduction of 5%.,bearing in mind early pricing excludes 'reserve' runners.

Pirates, the issue you raise could get even more interesting......imagine a scratching at 40/1,allowing a run for a reserve, with form,to get a run & priced up at 5/2....................all bets prior to the inclusion should be entitled to an increase!
