That Comtesse Dubois is our first runner from our latest crop of 2yo fillies that I bought at the National Yearling Sale. She looked pretty good today. With a different ride, she might have won her debut. That filly who beat her that day will never be able to do it again. Look for my filly to contest Graded races next in the Durban area.
Magic, I agree with you. Most of the money I have made puting has come from maiden races.
My favorite racing days come twice a year at Churchill Downs, when all of the races are for 2yo and many are maiden races.
I find that when it comes to maiden races, gamblers fall into two groups: handicappers that shy away from them because of a lack of form and gamblers that relish the challenge of uncovering the next generation of stars.
I have advocated days of racing with nothing but maiden races. First, it would produce some badly needed winners. And secondly, it would be an exciting day of racing.
