Scotia on the Summer Cup
14 years 6 months ago
Good morning to the Clan and hope many of you will be taking the trip to the big T for a pink hot day on Saturday.
MDK always has a habit of throwing a spanner in the works and he has again done this with the talking horse Perana Victory Moon Replay
Thandolwami to win the Cup
I am just going to stick with a bit stability and have an ew on Thandolwami and may the best horse win on the day, but many other betting opportunities on the day and the competition finale has the making of a cracker......Comp Finale
Should be a few decent bets over the weekend Link Man and Kavanagh could be a double and Mirage Drive is on offer at 12/1 so I am sure we can pay for the festivities.
Sad to report that I am still very sick and wont make the big day and will just concentrate on drinking plenty water and peeing like a racehorse with xmas as my goal to get back to normal and with a bit luck a trip to the Met.
In addition to the local racing the Hennessy is the big one over the jumps on Sat. and I have heard Denman could be the bet at 4/1
The jump season is heating up and Master Minded, Cue Card, Big Bucks and Kauto should give us plenty great racing.
Frankel still tops the boards for the 2000 gns 15/10 and 6/1 for the Derby.
Denman reported to be well by Nicholls
Tony McCoy is now money-on for BBC personality.
We have had a few shocks in the sports results and the EPL is far from put to bed, a great win from the Scots last weekend and the Boks might battle to beat the Poms.
Rugby: Poms 5/10 Boks 2/1, France 9/10 Aussies 12/10, Italy 6/10 vs Fiji, Scotland 5/10 vs Samoa, Wales vs NZ (1/20) it looks like NZ and the "rest" these days.
Soccer maybe an ATC, Arsenal (dangerous) Everton, Man Utd and Man City and a couple of crackers on Sunday Newcastle vs Chelsea, Spurs vs Liverpool.
Doobies
Have been extracting all my favourite dvd's the last few days, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Crosby Stills and Nash,Led Zep, Doobies, Beatles, Peter Gabriel, Gary Moore, James Taylor and many more.
In addition the top flat races and top jump races of all time.
One good thing that spending lots of time looking at the ceiling does, it again helps to priorities ones life and my favourite one liner "you are a short time living and a long time dead", so plenty family time over the feastive time, bucket list has to be revisited and remember

Have a great weekend and may your God be with you
good punting!

Flirtation a 25-1 Summer Cup shock for de Kock
Report: South Africa, Saturday
Turffontein: Sansui Summer Cup (Grade 1 handicap) 1m2f, turf, 3yo+
FLIRTATION (Mike de Kock/Randall Simons) sprang a 25-1 surprise when heading a one-two for South Africa’s champion trainer in the Sansui Summer Cup at Turffontein in Johannesburg on Saturday.
De Kock’s Perana, the only three-year-old in the race, started 5-2 favourite and was sent straight to the front. But he was beaten halfway up the straight where Mother Russia looked like being the de Kock winner. She went nearly three lengths clear but Randall Simons got a great tune out of Flirtation to get up close home.
Rudi Rocks, backed from 25-1 to 14-1 was third, just in front of last year’s winner Aslan and de Kock’s 2008 scorer Rudra.
Simons, recording his biggest win, said: “When I got to the furlong marker I thought I would win because I knew my horse would quicken again. Mr de Kock has been good to me and has always given me chances.”
De Kock, winning the race for an incredible ninth time, said: “Randall gave Flirtation a good and very patient ride. We’ve said for a long time that this is a very good filly but it was unlucky for Mother Russia who did everything right.”
