Scotia on the Charity Mile and Breeders Cup

Good morning all and hope you are all geared up for a "Super Saturday" of racing?

I will be back at the box on Saturday after a long absence and look forward to some good racing and entertainment which could follow through to a long evening with the Breeders Cup at midnight.
25.5M $ on the night and 5M $ for the Classic!

Our Nov/Summer Cup competition gets under way and I know our "star" tipsters don't like to play, but if you don't need the money just have a go and give it to charity.............Click here to play the Comp

The afternoon starts at 14h20 at the big T where we have the Starling Stakes, Emperors Palace Ready to Run Cup where Igugu should have a fair share of the R1.5M up for grabs.
I am sure the race will also give a good injection for the sale on the Sunday...............Ready to run sale
Peermont Charity Mile where we hope Thandolwami can give Pierre Jourdan a hard time.
The Graham Beck Stakes and the Golden Loom handicap should make it a great days racing, so get to the big T.

Thandolwami can run well at a big Price

On the subject of the great horse Golden Loom brings back memories of Buddy Maroun and a thread on the site....Gaps between runs
We have just watched the Melbourne Cup where some horses were running 3 major races in 10 days and it again begs the question why do trainers have this mind set of 4/6 weeks between races? "My Dad used to do it, so if it was good enough for him, its good enough for me".

Then on to the night racing from Churchill Downs and I would guess a book has been written on Zenyatta and been posted on the site, but the talking is over, the bets are down so lets hope the 20 from 20 becomes a reality for the full house on the big night.
Plus don't forget Goldikova she has drifted to 13/10 after a bad draw and Workforce did not enjoy the hard going, so maybe hold on before placing bets.

I went to the Classic Malt Whisky function last Friday at Raddison Blu in Joburg and must say it was 5 star each of the Malts we sampled were accompanied with a rather fancy fusion tastes produced by top chefs Coco Reinarhz and Vonique van Zyl (so no chance of a bacon roll). The "Dalwhinnie" was served with Caramelised foie gras vanilla marinated dates and toasted brioche (what else I hear you say) "Lagavulin" we had with slow oven roast duck leg (why do ducks have such small legs) pear and gorgonzola tarte tatin, apple cinnamon sauce, we then had "Talisker" with smoked salmon and tataki of tuna terrine crab and baby coriander salad and last but not least we had "Singleton" with your normal pudding of coconut panacotta with a selection of creme brulee macadamia, hazelnut, almond and burnt orange ( not sure who burnt the orange) but I am sure you can make the odd mistake at the end of the night.

I must say I enjoyed the Singleton and Dalwhinnie but the other 2, Talisker and Lagavulin were a bit peaty. On that subject, did you hear about the homosexual Scotsman that preferred Pete to Heather.

The problem is Mrs S has the ingredients and instructions for above (come bloody dine with me) I bought a bottle of Singleton with 2 glasses and a free umbrella in Macro for R299. The Dalwhinnie is over R700 (maybe if Zenyatta wins)

did not know whether to eat or take photo? I did both

Well the latest PVR selections from Mrs S included Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and I find the man hilarious

enjoy Watch the Clip

Have a great punting weekend and may your God be with you
