are you guys referring to the grooms day on the vaal?
that's perhaps the only time these overseas grooms(jockeys) will shape...
check the UK post yesterday -- ex UK jump jockey also calls them grooms...
the best the UK got cannot even compete with our average jockeys.
Seb Sanders cannot change a wip in riding..our grooms can..
Kieron Fallon jumps up and down..the horse wins in spite of him....Striker or Fortune to teach him balance...
Hughes need specs...canot see the post...coms too late...
only AP McCoy is a jock...

there is NO doubt that the jockeys mentioned on both sides have different styles of ridning. However bouncing up and down is not really an issue

Gavin V Zyl
Robbie Sham come to mind. Now the fact is that horses do run for fallon and hughes. Our academy means that our jocks ALL have the same groundwork, where as most of the jocks in the UK have started off riding ponies and then working for stables. Some stables have a softly softly approach and some have a in at all costs approach hence the different styles. Hughes for example comes from a national hunt family, and McCoy was apprenticed as a FLAT jockey 1st.

How must a horse get into stride when the jockeys arse is hitting the saddle every stride...
Is this not how you stop the fav in a race.

FALLON will be a great jockey...just teach the guy balance...not jumping up and down in the saddle.

can see they did not do the 5 year apprenticeship that the RSA jockeys do..
I grew up on a farm, and know how to ride...can see who are grooms and who has ben schooled..
