Gypsy's Warning Third in Grade 1 Beverly D

Gypsy's Warnings, making her third North American start for Team Valor and Green Lantern Stable, ralled from far back in the homestretch to finish third, beatne 1 1/2 lengths and a neck on Saturday in the Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes during the Festival of Racing at Arlington Park on Arlington Million Day.

It was the second placing in 1 1/16-mile grass race for the combo of TVI/Green Latern, which finished a close second with Irridescence a few years ago.

Other than the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, the Beverly D is the most important and lucrative grass race run for older fillies and mares in the United States.

The mare won a Grade 3 in her debut and was fifth, beaten 1 1/2 lenghts, under top weight of 125 pounds last time out in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes.

We rode William Buick, who a race later won the Million aboard Debussy.

William told me after the race that Gypsy's Warning has a brilliant, but short burst of speed and that we would be more successful with her racing the mare on racetracks with a shorter stretch run. Her last 2 starts came on courses with unusually long stretch. When she won at Monmouth Park, she raced over a track with a short homestretch.

Of the South African horses that I've bought, I now rank her in order behind Ipi Tombe, Irridescence, Crimson Palace and ahead of Captain's Lover, Warning Zone and Tara's Touch, all of which won feature races outside of South Africa.

Well he rode a horse for us @ Kempton last week and completely failed to ride to intructions. The little bastard was the last jockey into the ring and came sprinting in AFTER the bell had sounded for them to mount , was with us and the trainer for less than 40 seconds, was told albeit in that short time exactly what to do and FAILED to do what he was told.

After the race his explanation was complete and utter bollocks, our trainer stated to me " these newmarket kids thnk they are always ridng horses with buttons "

Jockeys that have been succesful on the horse include Tom Queally and Hayley Turner. Tom has ridden horses ALL over the world, has never ever ridden work on our horse BUT rides the horse as he is told. Mr Buick on the otherhand fuelled by his appointment to Gosden and coupled with the fact that people are talking about him even on a SA racing forum appears rude/aloof and very very arrogant. You might think he rides well but this game will bring him down to size pretty quick and unless he starts listening to other trainers when taking mounts for them he will not be succesful.

He will never ride for our stable again, now that might not be a loss to him but at this stage of his career i would think he would want to ride for as many people as possible. you CANT be champion in the UK riding for John Gosden alone

I dont rate him........
