RACE 8 - SOMEONE EXPLAIN PLEASE
14 years 11 months ago
After watching the golden horseshoe ,for the life of me I cant understand how the objection was upheld??
Far as what I saw Kavanagh intimadated the other horse they didnt bump +/- the 400 and just at the finish
copper Parade drift's across and bumps into the winner who was demoted to second place. The objection was
lodged on the Grounds of " Interferance in latter stages":
...... But the winner did not bump him? If the winner won further
would it still be lodged against him??What is the rule???someone please help shed some light..:S

I thought that Kavanagh intimidated Copper Parade who was forced off a straight course. Copper Parade did react to shy away. I'm not sure that physical contact is a necessary requirement that changes the decision one way or the other.
It can be argued that Kavanagh's action cost Copper Parade the few inches he lost by, so I wasn't surprised to see the objection upheld.
That's just my one opinion (and as for my pocket, I backed both so I didn't care).

Bumping is NOT necessary for there to have been interference. If a horse is forced to race off a straight line by another horse bearing down on him, in order to avoid a collision, that surely is interference whether or not they ever actually make contact. Furthermore, when there is only a short head involved you are allowed to get away with practically nothing.

The problem,I think, lies with consistency. There was a time that if there was no contact and/or the jockey never stopped riding it was not construed as interference but intimidation, and was seldom successful. That has changed somewhat which is fine but what is needed is consistency.....the other day a horse was forced off course for further and longer and the objection was overruled.

Hi Rob My village asked me to leave.
My opinion on this was that Pierre allowed Kavanagh to drift towards his horse. He ensured his horsie stayed on a straight line if he had moved off his line the interference head on would not have looked as severe. a less senior jock may have not won the appeal in the stewards room.
Dats all.

Yea that is about at the 400.. look right at the post as pierre drifts across right into kavanagh.. Think it goes back to
what Rob says with consistency.....

The only consistent thing about objections is the inconsistency.....any history on objections, and the outcome, i.e jockey, trainer, owner, stipes ???.
Could shed some light, methinks

We have a thread on France and the rest of the World trying to have the same rules as the French objections can be a bit heavy.
I have no stats but if the stipes object the result would change 90% of the time and if its jockey/trainer/owner would guess upheld about 10%. but just my opinion
