Did anyone have a HIGH & LOW at the same time :?

I caught yesterdays Clairwood P6 but only to leave the ticket at the bar & realized abit tooooo late went back but it was gone...
Even checked the dustbins but to no avail but goodluck to whoever found the ticket it will definitely change their lifes coz it was a huge some of money to loose :X

Did you contact the tote, they could put a hold on the ticket for you.

I did but they no help russelldavie... they said it's very hard to block a ticket coz i don't have proof it's my ticket advised them the amounts played & the place the ticket was played at but they still refused...

If someone has cashed your ticket, then you are out of luck.

But make a note of the bet you played, how much it cost, where you put it on and what time.

If the ticket remains unpaid, the above info should be enough to validate your claim.

Call the tote on a non raceday and ask them what is the procedure to make a claim. If they don't help you, it's time to escalate your troubles to a manager or higher. Don't let this get away because it looks like too much trouble.

Rigzo, you should put in a lost ticket claim anyway. If the ticket never gets cashed then you can claim ownership of that ticket.

I know this is only small comfort but at least you will pro actively be trying to get your money.

Sad Rigzo, but try the claim.

I had an Irish mate that went into a bookies with one pound and kept backing winners and doubling up, he ended up with 20 Grand on the last fav and it was beaten by a short head!

Yes, That will help. It happened to me a few years ago. You would need to go back to the tote and see the administrator of the tote. You need to tell him/her the following:
1. the value of the bet taken.
2. On which machine/ computer the bet was taken.
3. The approximate time.

The Administrator will be able to check on the computer (which is usually in the office) all bet struck on that particular machine. They are able to identify the ticket and also check if it was cashed or not.
If you are a regular at the tote and you are well known by the administrator, she will be able to cash the ticket for you.
If not , you have to go to the TAB offices in Greyville with the "barcoded number and fill a form. There is a waiting period before you are paid, if not already cashed.

Rigso , I must warn you of the following:

DO NOT phone them. You must be present when the search is being done on the computer. The reason for this is that if you give all the details on the phone, and if the ticket was not cashed ,you have no guarantee that that winning ticket will not be cashed by the employee of TAB since they have all the info that was provided by yourself.

I physically tore my P6 ticket (R89 857.40) in 2005. I tore up the wrong ticket as I thought that it was a losing ticket at the time, only to check the next days paper that it was a winning ticket. I went through the procedure , as above, and was told they the administrator would get back to me. She did. She said that the ticket was cashed already. Weeks later, it was rumoured, in that very tote, that the administrator had caught a P6 and was splashing out. I knew her well and I know for a fact that she was a R6.00 punter. It was a big thing If she lost that R6.00.

I could not prove anything at the time and moved on.
