Why don't we cut to the chase?

You think it's cool to rename a horse "piece of shit" and I don't.

You then try to make the case why it's ok to piss on what other's think is important, just because it means nothing to you.

I would hate to begrudge anyone having fun, but imagine the travesty if these great comedians got hold of a horse that would become a South African legend like Pocket Power and renamed him Pig Power? It's just not for me.

That doesn't make me eloquent or pompous.

What they are doing, imho, is disrespectful, demeaning and degrades the efforts of great horses that I think are incredibly brave to do what we keep on asking of them to for our sport and pleasure.

But hey, each to their own... maybe it's me who has no sense of humour.

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a spider,
that wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed the fly.
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a bird.
How absurd to swallow a bird.
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
that wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed the fly.
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a cat.
Imagine that, she swallowed a cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird.
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
that wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed the fly.
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a dog.
My what a hog, to swallow a dog.
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat.
She swallowed the cat, to catch the bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
that wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed the fly.
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a cow.
I don't know how she swallowed a cow.
She swallowed the cow to catch the dog.
She swallowed the dog, to catch the cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird.
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
that wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed the fly
I guess she'll die.

I know an old lady who swallowed a horse...

She's dead of course!

Alright Jack, I get your point. Its obviously an issue that you have strong feelings on and you do make a point on the efforts of great horses (IMO the efforts of the not say great are equally important).

Each to their own I suppose.

I leave you with this though:

"...and they straighten up in the annual running of the Durban July. Goat burrrrrns to lead with Noordhoek Flyer and Bravura in close attendance pressing for the lead. 2 furlongs to go and Goat hangs on with Noordhoekflyer and Bravura set to challenge for the lead Rat being galvanised for an effort just off them. Its Goat, Bravura and Noordhoek Flyer. Rat comes out for a run down the outside and the ground begins to shake beneath him. Rat is electrified into action. Rat breathing fire inhales Goat Bravura and Noordhoek Flyer to win the 2011 Vodacom July".

Not sure of the breeding or whether this runner will be good or not but Rat would probably need to inhale quite a bit more than a Goat for this dream to come true or else his name may be something more important sounding (lol).

Ben looking at the Chinese Zodiac this is what it says about the rat and the horse

This pair is one of the worst paring in Chinese Zodiac.

Rat is practical and ambitious while horse is too easily disorganized, lacks ambition and easily distracted.

Rat cannot tolerate the horse as the impulsive nature of the horse which makes hasty decisions.

RAT is at least a powerful word: there are thousands of absolutely stupid names like "Potatoe Joe" "Bombastic Berta" or even worse: "SS-Officer"(what is absolutely ILL)). i cannot imagine, how one byus for thousands of dollars a horse to name it, f.e. "sausage" or "Push the bottom". These people obviously have too much money... they should better give the money to me (tu)
