Hardy Animals
15 years 2 months ago
Survival instincts in animals is unbelievable. We had had about 40 hours of non stop snow accompanied with blizzards. Everyday 4 sheep come along into the garden and feed on the lawn and everyday I usher them away. The day before yesterday I made them run just where I wanted them to and managed to fix the broken fence that they came through. Well I thought that that was the fence that they entered from. Then yesterday morning as it started snowing I aw them again. I phoned the farmer but he failed to appear. Just now I went outside to sush out the property after all the snow and wind. Just a couple of small trees have fallen and the motors are under snow. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a movement in the snow. I approached tentaviley. I burrowed into the snow and I could not believe what I saw. 4 sheep all together in this sort of vacum of ice and snow next to the wall. Out they clambered and away they went. How they managed to survive only they will know but the respect for these hardy animals has just got greater.

makes a huge difference magic to when i was travelling and i worked on a sheep station in South Australia where the days got up to 43 degrees and there was no rain or shade for 147 thousand sheep. They too were very hardy and although we lost about 30 a month because of the heat these animals just went on and on. They drank the water that we provided via the wells and into the water troughs and found substanance out of the salt trees that they ate.

To steal a line from Jurassic Park (of all things) - nature will find a way.

Back on line and a good story C and C all the best, the brother in law was going on a jolly boys golf trip the day I left and when I phoned the following night and he answered??? he says if they had gone to his destination they were told they would have been snowed in!
Its almost April, watched 2012 on the plane and maybe we only have 2 years left, trying to buy a place in the Drakensberg
lol
ps apart from the possibility of climate change the car and plane start to the movie made it a total pile of sh*te
