Alcaponee I'm well aware of not being the most intelligent, or even educated, person on TT. However i do try my utmost in making up for it with the analysis i present on the card being previewed. I come on the show prepared. I spend several hours studying and give reasons which back up my various opinions in order to try guide the viewer in the right direction. As for this morning's show i said i've also been discussed on forums, which is the truth. I also said i'm not there to give english lessons, believe me i'm the last person qualified for that, lol. The bottom line is your thread hit a nerve.

Chain thanks for clearing that up from your side and for coming on here to debate. I must point out to you that you are only pointing out one of your many comments.

As soon as I heard you announce that Darryl was the guest on the show, I had a feeling that this issue would be raised. You cannot with a clear conscience tell me that you had not discussed this prior to air. In fact you did mention that you had a comment on racing forums at the beginning of the show which you would leave for the end. At the end of the show Darryl raised issues "...english teacher" very similar to 2 cents comments above which lead to comments from both of you. How coud this not have been discussed prior to air?

Please clarify your comments on "Gurus who know no one in racing".

I do agree with you that people should not, with malice, blatantly attack anyone in racing on a racing forum. Rather man up and say it to that persons face if you are so passionate about it.

Chainsaw,

I agree with that, calling someone something obscene on a website is uncalled for.I have no idea who you were referring to,but Darryl has certainly taken an offence to either this thread or a similar one,and that is what he was referring to for sure.If one is in the limelight then there are always consequences. Many a movie star has strived to be in that limelight and then hated the consequences of public scutiny once they are in it.The consequent criticism is something that both Darryl and the movie star will have to deal with.It is how they deal with it that is most important.

Darryl,

your analysis is clear and concise. You have an opinion and are prepared to back it,which is exactly what your listeners want to hear.If a nerve has been hit you have to learn to deal with it,you chose to be on tv.Like I said above, nobody likes criticism, but it goes with the territory and you will have to take it on the chin.Just turn it into something positive.

Sorry Darryl - I was out of line then - I was being genuine in my second posted comment though. You do add value.

Education has nothing to do with it and I was definitely not trying to insult your intelligence. You are race intelligent and thats what counts here. Thank you for your efforts in bringing the racing public valuable informed information.

Your performance on this mornings show was fine, I do ask that you find a recording of the other night and just think to yourself "was this the best I can do?"

Please accept this as a genuine apology.

All the best for todays racing.

Regarding Gurus. A chap may write well and put forward reams of info on this and that regarding racing. Quoting that he heard this and got told that meanwhile most of what his carrying on about is sucked out of his thumb. Due to his writing prowess and his band of mates/followers who take his every word for gospel he is put on a pedastel and is now the guru on racing and all racing issues. The unfortunate part of it all is his judgement and perception of others is then taken to be the feelings of everybody.

Constructive criticism is good and can help one grow. Sometimes one may read a posters comment and say '' Hey the guys got a point let me try and do that or improve on that ''. However if someone says - '' That Mark is a kak presenter and a d**s etc it's a waste of reading time. Any constructive criticism/ comments positive or negative are good. I would be VERY worried if I never got any mention bad or good.

Thanks for clearing this up Chain - I know what, where and who you are reffering to. The problem is that I was looking at this in the context of this thread, you can therefore understand what I was going on about.

Generalisations are never a good thing

Part of life, some may like you whilst others hate you. We got to just accept it and carry on. Darryl knows his game and presenting wise has come on like a good thing. We all got our strengths and weaknesses. As presenters we know when we have done well or badly. Biorhythms as some days I still get tongue tired and battle. Thanks for the compliment. My comments re the gurus was in general and not pointed at a specific person as there appear to be a few.
