I know that a offer has been made on this horse. I believe he is worth about R400k. I ask Magic and my good mate Pirates whose opinion I value.

My opinion is that he is an early 2 year old and really done nothing of note. How many unraced babies does Charles Laird have that will blow this away ?

I know that offers have been made above R750k and am sure the owners will not accept as they are in the game for fun and don't need the money.

The horse he beat was a 200k purchase (by a stallion that looks tremendous (Tiger Ridge)) that must be worth +500k.
Magico must be worth that at least.
Your 400k valuation is def on the lite side.

I think that Du Pont is a sire that might take time to show his true worth so as an early speedster this horse could well be top class. At 750k I would sell asap though as two-year-olds can let you down very swiftly

Interesting discussion; I see he is not due to run in the Storm Bird - does he have a problem, or are they saving him for bigger things? Currenlty I would value him (all being well) at around 500k; but if he manages to win the Nursery it would at least be double that.

guys think about this in 7 weeks time people are going to go to the national yearling sales at germiston and buy yearlings at an average of 350k to 400 k..would you rather not buy a proven racehorse after 2 starts for lets say a million than pay 400k for a horse that is completely untried...

The prices good horses fetch these days he could be worth a hell of a lot more than you guys are suggesting. He may be an early 2yo but Dupont did best at 3 so there is every chance that Magico will train on. If they don't need the money then they shouldn't take under R1.5 mil. Of course he might go backwards, but that's the chance you take.
