ADVICE NEEDED URGENTLY

Hi guys. i need your advice please. today i placed a bet with my local bookie in kzn. it was on a singapore race. the bet was a winner but the bookie refuses to pay me as he insists that the bet was placed a few minutes late after the race had closed. i have the ticket with me and i insist on disputing this matter. what can i do? where can i query this matter? any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you!

If the bet was late you don`t have a leg to stand on,are you disputing the fact that the bet was late?

wel im not entirely sure bcoz to my knowledge i dont know whether the bet was late or not. however if he insists that it is null and void and that i am entitled to a refund then shouldnt all the other punters who placed bets on that particular race at the same time or even after me be entitled to refunds whether their bets were winners or not? if i had a losing ticket on that race im sure nobody would have informed me that the race was closed and that i should be refunded. where are the principles?

Surely the time that the bet was placed will be on your bet receipt.

thank you. the scheduled off time of the race and the actual time of me placing the bet is 2 mins. usually bets are placed slightly after the off time though because of loading, horses playing up etc.

check the time of your bet on the slip. Check the time of the actual race off (not scheduled on card time). Did the bookie place the bet late but your order with the bookie was in time? If both late, why did he take your order?

what is the time on the bookmakers computer system.
that will be the time printed on your ticket.
they set the time early with a few minutes to be able to put winning bets in after the race is run.
thats how they make sure they dont pay too much tax.


so when a punter catches them, because the result is know (the race has run), and places the bet, the bookmaker now wants to object..
the system should not take the bet. the book is closed.if the time on the bookmakers computer system was set correctly.

the bookmakers cheat by putting the time early on their system, so that they can steal the money from the tax man, but when the punter wants to steal it from the bookmaker, the punter is a thief?

and the gambling board...the bet is null and void..refund the punter his money.

You should threaten the bookmaker that you going to take him to the society, Bookmakers are meant to close the race after the off or a couple of seconds into the race. If he is not closing races he is a questionable bookmaker that would prob not like to be taken to task. Another question is who and why did they lay you the bet? surely the staff should know when a race is off.
