All systems go for War Artist..
15 years 6 months agoWar Artist had a limber up at Kemptons Polytrack on Wednesday in Readiness for his pop at the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint.
The spin was seemingly the best that War Artist had worked since Joining Eustace and will see him spot on for the big race two weeks on Sunday.
War Artist was too pacy and readily drew away from his work mate Winter Fever(pic ) winner of the Darley Arabian listed race at Clairwood on his last South African run.
Eustace said: "He worked six furlongs round the bottom loop and I was really pleased with him. I thought it was as good a bit of work as I have ever seen him do.
"It's not surprising because he is a horse thatswitches on at the races and is pretty laid back at home. I wanted to get the adrenaline flowing otherwise it was a long time between the Abbaye and Hong Kong.
"He was ridden out this morning and he was jumping and kicking. If we can keep him in one piece until he gets on the plane then we are away. We are very happy with him.
He added: "We have two things on our side. He is a relatively fresh horse and didn't start racing this year until much later than the others and an Australian bred horse has won the Sprint every year it's been going and he is an Australian bred."

Beauty Flash lays down serious Classic marker
Report: Hong Kong, Sunday
BEAUTY FLASH (Tony Cruz/Matt Chadwick) underlined his Classic potential with an authoritative victory in the featured Chevalier Cup (Class 1, 7f) at Sha Tin.
Imported from New Zealand last season, the four-year-old son of Golan will be aimed at the Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Classic Mile and the Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Derby early next year - and on Sunday's evidence he will have a major say in how these prizes are decided.
Backed into 4-7 favourite, Beauty Flash settled in third position on the rail and kicked clear at the top of the home straight and quickly settled matters.
Despite appearing to idle in front, he still scored by a length and a quarter from the John Moore-trained pair of Kings Falcon and Irish Jig.
"He has never been over further than 1,400m but he'll get a mile no problem and I don't think he'll have any trouble with 2,000m in the Derby in March either, with the way he is bred," Cruz said.
"That's his fourth win from five starts for me. He has that nice blend of speed of stamina. He is one for the future, no doubt."
Cruz and Chadwick doubled up in the final race, a Class 3 event, when Brave Spirit made the most of a light weight and a positive ride to win unchallenged by a length and three-quarters.
The double puts Cruzjust one winner behind Caspar Fownes and John Moore, who share the lead in the trainers' premiership.
Elsewhere,five-time champion trainer John Size enjoyed his best day of the season so far by sending out three winners.
Brave Kid (Douglas Whyte) justified heavy support on his debut, while Spinnaker (Whyte) and Appreciation (William Pike) were much less fancied.
And it was a red-letter day for first-season apprentice Kevin Leung, who rode the first Hong Kong winner of his career on 125-1 outsider China Lujia for trainer Alex Wong.
Leung is a twin of prominent Hong Kong apprentice Derek Leung.

STAN MOORE is confident Total Gallery is in the form of his life as he prepares him for the Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin on December 13.
"He's an exceptional three-year-old and it's a valuable race with 550,000 sterling going to the winner and around £50,000 for finishing sixth, so we have to have a go.
"The ground is apparently quick but safe so we're happy enough with that, it was pretty quick at Longchamp so he handles it.
"He'll come back straight after the race and we'll give him a break. I would think we will probably then think about having a crack at the Golden Shaheen in Dubai."
