RACING SCANDALS
15 years 7 months ago
After reading about the heavywheight fight between Larry/Brett,its obvious that our racing is in disrepute. The once apon inseperables, have brought the true meaning of hate to the fore,as theyve left no stone unturned to get at each other. Its the scandal of the century reading by the hits on the forum and its viewers, but sadly at the end of the day the'Bully'vrs 'Chairman'will leave a bitter taste to the Equine industry that we all dearly love,as a decission will be taken on Wednesday on the ousting of the so called'Bully'.Everybody is entitled to their say,but being unable to resolve these disputes nowdays,or in the socalled modern arena is a disgrace.Who is benefitting from these scandals as decissions that are made should benefit our industry, yet fragments will walk away with a resounding victory, and will sit back one day and realise how childish this scandals been,as the saying goes 'BOYS WILL BE BOYS'.

Yep got to agree zorro...
Where are the old days when one entered a crossword puzzle or lucky draw and if any relative, worker, company representative of the competition entered they were disqualified.
I feel the same should be done in racing...If you are in any way a chairman, stipe, trainer, jockey or on any horseracing panel as employer you shouldn't be allowed to own horses or bet and this will eradicate prejudice and jealousy throughout the industry...cause if you got no personal involvement you won't be open to scrutiny or heavyweight fighting like the above mentioned by zorro...
Let independant parties run the idustry and i believe most problems will be sorted. For one i don't believe you can own horses, be a stipe etc, play horses and rule the industry...its like running the lotto and choose the numbers and have the ticket...lol

Rad,
I agree with you. There is no way in hell that the RA should be run by people INSIDE racing. How are they able to make decisions for the betterment of the industry when they are only worried about their own interests.
It reminds me of the old days when the racing clubs used to own and run the race courses. All they did was run the race crouses as their own oppulent private party venues.....Invite as many guests as you like and feed them great food and even better wine!!!
When are people going to learn that the sport is bigger than any one person or group.
Just and opinion

Just for the record Phumela are the racing company and they run racing, not the RA, and we saw what Phimelela did to the game with outsiders running the show! The RA ia an association of owners.

Classicl,
So why do the owners have no say in what the RA board does?
Perhaps the RA board don't understand their own articles of Association?
The more things change, the more they stay the same.......From the old days of stewards running the courses into the ground, drinking Moet and eating oysters..........Now they have another name, same end result

TH,
In many cases it is the owners' own fault; those that have convinced themselves to join or to remain members, do not attend the meetings; nobody cares enough to provide an alternative.

Tommy,
slowly..
I ate the oysters and drank the Moet...
were never part of the establishment...
but Eric Cash..he got (stole) the stewards visitors tickets..sold to me for R50 each at the time..
use to book a table for 10/12....
invited my mates..
made sure we had at least 6 pretty girls..
had a ball..
not sure if they ever figured we were never members...
made the most noise..
ate...the food was good..
drank..only the best they had..
and we punted...bombs...
