Lots of support for another first timer in the 4th race...

Russian Sage, maybe a nice place bet at the current price

Winner looked good but where has Russian Sage's great tenacity of old gone? He seemed to turn it up without much of a fight, to be frank.

Think he bled after the Sheema for the first time, never been the same on the track since.

Pity, he seemed like he had bags more potential and is running nowhere near his top form...

Given the weights of the race and where he finished (bar the winner) he probably ran about a 110-112.
That's how good he is, I reckon.

Thought he ran a solid race from the front.
Presenter's comment 'he never looked like a winner' is the biggest crap I've heard for a long time.

I think the weight got him in this conditions race.
Set a good pace (the racetime was pretty good),the others had his measure.
Looks like his best run since coming to Uk.

Russian Sage bled 3 on a scale of 0 to 5.

Ever since he bled in the Sheema, he has never been close to the same horse that ran to a 124 Timeform rating when he dead heated with Jay Peg in the Grade 2 earlier.

He is undergoing a complete evaluation at a vet clinic over the next 48 hours, after which it will be determined whether a) he is retired, b) sent back to run in SAF or c) sent to the U. S. to be tried with Lasix.

He is among many horses that suffered respiratory collapse and insult from the air pollution in Dubai over the winter.

I have it on good authority that more horses bled at Nad al Sheba last winter than in all previous meetings combined in the history of racing in Dubai.

The toll on horseflesh was staggering.
