if the filly can run from the same draw and finish 2nd..
if we have a match race..and we had..the filly was drawn 14 next to Havasha 16..
either the filly is star in the making or ....
Havasha will beat then filly by 6 lenghts if not more.....
ask the MDK stable..let them tell you...6 lenghts or more....
the previous race..Havasha took time to get going..
well..at the 600m..start with the run...and win by 3 lenghts...
go watch the race...someone please post the replay..then we can all see..
if I was the owner....or lock him up in the bottlestore...

Coming into the straight Havasha was about 2 lengths behind PJ, so assuming they both started their runs from about the same time, PJ still put an extra 2 to 3 lengths between them down to the wire, so who has the best finishing kick?
MDK has a knack of turning out fillies to run above themselves in big races. (The filly who ran second in the VDJ, the name escapes me....)
I think Fisani is good but her and PJ will never enter the same parade ring together ever again!!!!
As for Havasha I think he is good too, just not quite as good.
Next for PJ will be the Cape Guiness....I hope MDK and Havasha follow him there so we can settle this discussion.

same day..same course..check the time
bulsara............85.75
PJ.................85.69
flying Tristram ...85.91
PJ did not win in a very good time...
both havasha and Bulsara are colts..
soon will be gelded..
then 12 weeks later...
boom..bang..in the box...
Havasha will win MET..JULY...MDK will agree...
PJ is gelding...
he ran to his max...
nothing else can help improve..
will battle to win more races..
and Fisani ran to her max....
will win fillies races..2 or 3 more..

Interesting discussion - trying to predict how these horse will turn out, just some addtional points that should perhaps be taken into account:
I once read a book where the writer was of the opinion that one should not take the final 400 to finish time into account as the sole criteria when judging a horse's performance, the pace of the race (and over 1400 we are basically talking about the pace to complete the first 1000) has a huge effect on the 400 to finish time; so perhaps as a result of the draw, Havasha needed to really go hard in the first thousand to be so close to PJ, so therefore it was easier for PJ to go faster over final 400.
Regarding the times (which is of course also dependant on the pace), PJ ran a faster time than Bulsara (who surely was a racing certainty on the handicap)carrying much more weight, so it was a very good run by PJ imo.
Who will turn out the best? Nobody knows for sure; yes Havasha seems to have plenty of scope, but only time will tell; I certainly am looking forward to a race where Exhiliration, PJ and Havasha meet - hopefully from similar draws.

Dave,
For the time being apparently it is staying in SA. Going for the Cape Guiness and then perhaps the Gauteng Guiness next year.....but who knows.
If the money is good enough can anybody say no???
Good times ahead, good times ahead

I agree with pirates. I think we need to remember that the field was drawn from a tiny fraction of the 3yo crop.

I cannot understand how you can say no horse made up any ground yesterday, when PJ came from about 8 to 10 lengths back at the top of the lane?!?!?!?!
Like I said, bring on the Cape Guiness as I hope the best gets represented there.....I hope all the big guns show up so we can see who the best is.
I like all of them...I just love horses!!!!!
LOL

Thanks for posting the replay Hibs......
Now I'm no expert but when you race worse than midfield coming around the top bend and you land up winning the race by almost 3 lengths then I believe you have "made up ground from the back"......
Give credit to havasha as he ran his heart out from a bad draw and I respect his run but saying that PJ never made up that much ground and that he only won because he was placed better is silly.....He made up a ton of ground.
Anyway it was great to see the race again.....I think Fisani ran a great race to finish 2nd in this race.
Oscar and the boys.....you certainly have a few wins in the tank with Havasha. He is a very nice sort who needs to go a mile plus to show his worth.
Thanks again Hibs
