Niel being Niel Pretorius from Tellytrack I suppose. Niel needs to respond quickly and Margaret needs to put pressure on for this response otherwise she looks the fool.

Umlilo, it would never occur to me to manage responses according to race. Your mail was forwarded to the relevant manager for response, and when I receive queries I will always forward them. I have recieved a response from Neil:

The cheapest way at present to receive Tellytrack is to take the Compact Bouquet for R200. This includes Tellytrack and about 10 other channels. It works out to about six rand per day for coverage of approximately 50 races . This has been available since 1 December 2006.

With reference to the past and the ability to receive Tellytrack at no cost, it is my understanding that there was a loophole whereby subscribers were subscribing to Multichoice, and then subsequently cancelling their subscription but still received access to the free to air channels and Tellytrack, this loophole was shut by Multichoice some 4 -5 years ago.

I committed to responding on a specific Racing Web thread within a week or shorter where possible. I cannot monitor all threads at all times, and there are periods when I don’t monitor for several days. Where it is highlighted to me that a factual inaccuracy needs correcting / or there is a particular request for information then I will always try to assist.

As to a background in Horse Racing, I am a Corporate Project Manager with a background in IT, Training and HR, and responsible for various projects within the company. I report directly into the CEO, South Africa and as such interact with all the divisions in the business.

Umlilo - Margaret, why does it take their corporate project manager to deal with this bottom level query - after 2 or 3 years of letters - really?? Margaret, seeing you feed back straight to the CEO - a red card to the company's ability to organise flow of customer queries - sort out your customer services dept!!!
its a bit like Zuma's helpline, no?

Hi Don - I received it because I interact on the forums, so pass along messages and take note of concerns. As to why it took so long, unfortunately I don't have an answer and I'm quite suprised that letters weren't answered. The flow of Customer Queries is a priority and we are doing a lot of work with the Customer Services Department.

Margaret, the reason you have to scan the forums is because(as I pointed out earlier this year,to no avail) that the complaint E-mails go to the"bottom level" and the very people that the complaint is aimed at,intercept and obviously do not send on to management.(dumb system)
I see your area of experience is HR and training.....may I suggest directors/managers complete some management courses?
Seems to me there are a lot of "square pegs in round holes" at P!

Margaret:

'With reference to the past and the ability to receive Tellytrack at no cost, it is my understanding that there was a loophole whereby subscribers were subscribing to Multichoice, and then subsequently cancelling their subscription but still received access to the free to air channels and Tellytrack, this loophole was shut by Multichoice some 4 -5 years ago.'

With due respect, the facts are totally different! The form that I filled in was to Tellytrack, payment to Tellytrack and I received the sim-card from Tellytrack.

I still have the card around somewhere- kept it away so safely, I cannot find it!

As for your qualifications and position , (no insult to you) but people with such qualifications are available a dime a dozen. The requirement would have been an intricate knowledge of the horseracing environment (environmental scanning) & its history. I'm afraid, I would not have hired you to this position as, by your own admission, your know nothing about the game, as much as our former Minister of Garlic, Beetroot and Carrot!

If you think I am hard on you, similar (and openly vicious) statements were hurled at the Gauteng Gambling Board members during the corporatisation process by the industry's negotiators and some members, referring to them as idiots who do not know a horse's head from its tail, or 'allow them (blacks) to become owners and they'll eat the bloody horse!'

Don't believe me?

But of course, that is now politics...so, I'll have to back off!

That does not detract from the industry's undertaking of taking the entire works to the mass!

Like the previous Director of the DTI observed about membership of the NHA, 'I'm afraid, I can afford the EasyView channel at R220 pa and not the compact bouquet at R200pm!'
