Scotia after the Arc weekend
15 years 8 months agoGood morning all and hope you enjoyed the big race.
When I started the "great horses" thread, I had the feeling that we had another legend on the way and glad to say that Sea The Stars has not disappointed.
If one considers on the list we had Rip Van Winkle, Sariska, Stacelita, Yeats, Goldikova, Zenyatta, Rachel Alexandra and Sea The Stars.
One would have to say by just looking at the achievements of STS:
First race beaten into 4th less than a length by Driving Snow
Won maiden over 7 furlongs by 2 1/2 lengths
Won the Juddmonte in Ireland group 2 over a mile
Then went on to win six group one races
STANJAMES 2000 GNS, INVESTEC DERBY,CORAL ECLIPSE, JUDDMONTE INTERNATIONAL, IRISH CHAMPION STAKES and the QATAR PRIX DE L'ARC DE TRIOMPHE.
This equates to 8 wins from 9 starts and prize money of a staggering 4,416,708 GBP.
All the above other candidates have slightly blotted the copy books with the exception of Zenyatta 12 from 12, however her last short head win was not in the "greatest category" and Rachel Alexandra the 3 year old filly that has a record of 11 wins and two seconds from 14 starts and has won her last 9 races.
In summary, we are coming to the end of a great season and the Breeders Cup meeting to come on the 7th of November, which also promises to be a great day for local fans at the big "T"
I was lucky to be on the go when Sir Ivor, Mill Reef, Brigadier Gerard used to grace the turf and glad to say Sea The Stars was worth the wait.
Good punting
