Emerald Cup's Belorus put down...

BELORUS, one of the favourites for the Emerald Cup to be run at the Vaal on Saturday, was put down after being injured in training this week.
This was revealed on Tellytrack during an Emerald Cup preview last night(Tuesday).
Reserve runner Fearless Gun, trained by Lucky Houdalakis, will take his place in the line-up for the R600 000 Grade 2 event.
Earlier, the Mike Azzie-trained El Padrino was withdrawn from the race and replaced by the first reserve runner, Space Captain.
Belorus was trained by St John Gray, who won the Emerald Cup last year with Alimony – a gelding that is trying for a repeat win in 2009. Gray also saddles the only filly in the race, Sandy Beach.
Piere Strydom, the carded rider of Belorus, will now partner the Geoff-Woodruff-trained Norquico, reported Tellytrack.
Mark Khan, originally booked for Norquico, has been stood down due to injury.
