Rip Van Winkle vs Delegator Ascot Sat
15 years 8 months ago
The field is starting to take shape for the running of the Queen Elizabeth the II Stakes at Ascot on Saturday..26th Sept.
A few good horses are due to line up, but this should be a great clash between Rip Van Winkle and the Delegator.
I am a fan and follower of both, but feel Rip Van Winkle should just be the better choice to fight off a flying late turn of foot from Delegator.
Any views?

If the QE2 stakes is run over the mile then I'm with the Delegator, but any futher and I will have to look for the winner elsewhere.....
Not sure the delegator stays an inch past 1600m...In fact I think he is best up to a tough 7 furlongs. I find him and Paco Boy very similar horses, both have outstanding quality about them.
....Just checked up on some facts...>Distance is the classic mile (1609m)
WOuld need a horse with some stamina....Maybe Aqlaam to boost the Goldikova form even further?!?!?!?

Will be a great race, sure to be plenty of pace on with all of O`briens pacemakers, that will test Delegators stamina..

15 years 8 months agoRip Van Winkle is odds on with some bookies now,RVW was always thought of being the best in O`Briens yard but with
Sea The Stars being the focus of the media hype(rightly so) Ballydoyle must be gutted that such a great horse could go under the radar.
They will be desperate to round the year of with a victory at Ascot before they trot of to the Breeders cup.
Hopefully one to be added to Scotia`s list soon!!

Only 5 left in the field and A O`brien has stated that Mastercraftsman will only run if RWP somehow misses the race.
With such a small field this will be very tactical, which could fall into the hands of Delegator if he settles..CARD
