Pocket Power's jockey hit with one-month ban

Pocket Power's jockey Bernard Fayd'herbe has been hit with a one-month suspension for failing to ride out a horse to the line at Durbanville last Tuesday, September 1.

Fayd'herbe finished third, only a short head behind the runner-up, on 3-1 favourite Alma Guerreira in a 1m1f handicap.

The stewards said that he did not ride out his mount to the line and, at a hearing in Cape Town last Friday, ruled that he prejudiced the horse's chances of finishing second, "which on the balance of probability it would have done if ridden out to the end."

Fayd'herbe was found guilty by the Inquiry Board and suspended for two months. However, half his ban is suspended for a year on condition that he is not convicted under the same rule during that period.

Fayd'herbe, who maintained that he was not guilty, has been given the right to appeal against both the finding and the penalty.

Even if he is unsuccessful, the ban should not affect Pocket Power's campaign as he does not normally return until November.

Dont suspend the guy..
let him ride..
force him to ride...
FOR FREE...
and if he objects..cancel his license for a year..
suspend his payments..
no riding fees for 3 months..
no 8% of the stakes for 3 months..

he has to ride 13 mounts a month to qualify for the Jockey club to pay his insurance/medical...????

and every time he stuffs up...suspend his pay another 3 months..

the higher up the jock on the log..the more harsh the suspension of his pay..

donate his 8% to the bar..horse racing trust..etc..

IT'S MORE HARSH..

PUNTERS are punting a horse..in total interbet + bookies > R2m change hands..
It's the punters money that make up the stakes..
NO punters,... no stakes
No stakes..... no "RICH" will buy horses

Jockey does not ride to win..
everyone in this case is on because the horse did not run 2nd..
how knows..if the horse was better placed..the horse could have won..
but then..maybe..just maybe..the jockey did not want to win..

some bookie was paying R50K...???
or as low as R10K to grab onto the starting stall gate..let the horse run..no jock..

evaluate the following...

racing cars..

got bumped 300 from home..
had to check 300 from home..
had to ease 300 from home...
too far back...

the racing car or the driver..
wakeup..the jockeys are having you guys for breakfast...

make them work without pay....evertime they #$%^&*() up..

pick 10 punters per day...at random..
let them be the judge....
7/10 votes and then the jockey rides without pay for 3 months..
