Any news on his progress as a trainer? Haven't seen him sending
out any runners for a while now

I were wondering this myself. He has bought some expensive yearlings over the past 2 years.

Had a runner here at Scotsville about a month ago, went off favorite and finished in the places.

wait...be patient...when he lets go of the handbrake...the winners will be there...

Handbrakes Van Wyk....recall witnessing a bookie bet been taken on handbrakes, more than 10 years ago.
Punter "X", R100k cash in a brown paper packet, bet on Van Wyk riding the favourite. at evens. Van Wyk just, and I mean, just managed to get up on the line...horse racing, never a dull moment...difficult not to be sceptical at times.

I find it hard to believe that Punter "X", just decided to have a R100k flutter on the horses.

Don't know Punter "X" personally, but did see him on a couple of occasions, before this bet was taken, and then never saw him again, after he collected his winnings in cash...always wondered if there was more to this than meets the eye.

Put plenty on...
only if he took the horse down at the toteboard side of the track...
