scotia i read this article properly and know i think you and your syndicate is not being clever. you race for 58000. your costs must be 5000-6000 per month? so first prize is 36000 so 6 month keep.
i go look at pe, tomorrow this race
Race-4 R 50,000 2000m 14:40 Ref-28
COMPUTAFORM EXPRESS FM 66 HANDICAP (F & M)
Open for Fillies & Mares
WFA: 3yrs-10.0kgs 4yrs-1.0kgs
so 31000 for first prize, stable fees 3500-4000 about 8-9 months keep with a much easier center.
it is a no brainer

Evening Mike and thanks for the input.
We like to keep it simple, we have a syndicate and I do the finance and send out a monthly update in addition to any feedback from the stables.
We have open communication between members of the syndicate and all suggestions are circulated and discussed.
If we have an option on the table the syndicate members have a vote on the best way forward and the majority vote is the way we go.
I do not get emotional or shoot from the hip and decide on what is best for the horse, we ALL make a decision and go with it.
We have previously had this option on the table and may well have it tabled again and will adopt the same approach, whether it be right or wrong, it will again lie in the hands of the paying members

A fair point Mad Mike and Scotia summed up the syndicate perfectly in the next post but for me there is another element and that is seeing the horse run and the excitement of the parade ring (and hopefully the lead in on occassion)
I reaslise that our members are spread far and wide so this does not apply to everyone but if I was looking to make money I would far rather lump the training fees on the Cheetahs -36 this weekend.
As it stands I enjoy having the filly in Joburg and until the syndicate decides otherwise I will enjoy the odd trip to the track to watch her.

Mad Mike it is not the only reason, was just making the point that for me it is not just a question of economics when making the decision and that other factors are at play.
