this new deduction table need serious investigation into it as it is strongly in favour of the bookies.todays meeting at scotsville has several scratchings of horses that are priced from 14 to 20 to 1 and qualify for a 5 percent deduction..the first race has 3 in that bracket..considering that they already bet to pathetic percentages antipost this situation is akin to daylight robbery.

the punters are sticking the bookies out...
they need to find new ways to make money..
it's called organic growth...
watch next time in a 14 horse field...
bookies lay 4 places...horse will get scratched at the start..bookies pay 3 places...

called business...
good business practise...
white collar crime..
no law against it...
hence it's called fair play...

pirates a 14/1 shot is priced to have a 6.7% chance in the race. so if the horse is scratched every other horse must have a 6.7% better chance than it did when you placed your bets. in which case, what is wrong with a reduction of only 5%?

GREENBOOK PRICE UP at 110 percent antepost and lets see what price and what percentage chance those scratched horses will have..all of them would have started 33 to 1..

greenbook if you follow antepost betting on interbet for natal and gauteng racing you will notice that a single bookie has the balls to offer betting at the right percentages..the blower betting will be 140 plus and he will offer between 115 and 120 percent..when this guy goes away or doesnt work its the same old shit .he singlehandedly determines what the prices will be the next time the bookies price up and adjust their prices..one person and the rest like sheep blaah blaah blaah

yes i agree that the overround makes it all a bit crooked. if you're betting at 14/1 on a 120% book then the horse is probably truly 17/1 or 33/2. A deduction of 5% still looks fair there although a bit of a push for your 20/1-priced runner.

140% makes it all a total nonsense.

imagine a world where the reduction factor is adjusted for the overround. or a world where the bookie has to actually tell the punter the percentages he is betting to before accepting a bet.
