Scotia on great horses.

Good morning everyone, with all the time I spend in traffic these days, my mind was drifting and it would appear we have a glut of great horses on the planet at present?

It has been superb to watch the videos posted on the site by our top man Hibernia.

I am not sure what you think or what your favourite is, but here is a reminder of what we have witnessed over the last couple of months.

THE brilliant "Rachel Alexandra" produced another astonishing performance for a runaway victory over the colts in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on Sunday.
"She's unbelievable," said the jockey. "I always knew she was the best horse I've ever been on."

"ZENYATTA" (John Shirreffs/Mike Smith) took her unbeaten record to a perfect ten with a two length victory over her stablemate Life Is Sweet (Garrett Gomez) in the Milady.

Following Wednesday's Sussex Stakes win by "Rip Van Winkle", Timeform have increased "Sea The Stars"' rating to 136p.

He is now rated the third best horse of the last 10 years by Timeform, with perhaps more to come.

The Halifax organisation have upgraded his Eclipse performance by three pounds, in light of both "Rip Van Winkle's" impressive success at Goodwood and "Conduit" (third at Sandown) winning the Betfair King George.

"Rip Van Winkle" himself is now rated 134. Darley Irish Oaks (Group 1) 1m4f, 3yo+

"SARISKA" ran out an ultra-easy winner of the Darley Irish Oaks under a supremely-confident Jamie Spencer.

"Sariska" cruised up to long time leader Roses For The Lady on the bridle and Spencer even had time to wave at Fran Berry on the runner-up as he passed the post motionless

"YEATS" showed all his brilliance to record an unprecedented fourth victory in the Ascot Gold Cup.

The super stayer's rider, Johnny Murtagh, was keen to make it a real test of stamina and struck for home on the winner over three furlongs out. He quickly opened up a clear lead and never looked like being caught from that moment.

"Yeats's" victory was the first for an eight-year-old in the staying showpiece in more than a century and he now goes down in history as the greatest Flat stayer of all time.

"Goldikova" enhanced her already sky-high reputation with an imperious display to win back-to-back renewals of the Prix Rothschild at Deauville.

Freddie Head's filly, winner of the Breeders' Cup Mile last year, had not quite recaptured her best so far this season, despite winning the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on her last start.

"Stacelita" can emulate Zarkava in Arc - Lemaire

CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE has issued a confident prediction that France's latest pin-up filly "Stacelita" can emulate Zarkava's greatest achievement by saying the runaway French Oaks winner is "capable of winning" the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Lemaire was aboard "Stacelita" at Chantilly when the unbeaten filly delivered an awesome display to crush her Prix de Diane rivals by upwards of four lengths.

Canford Cliffs heads to Deauville for Prix Morny

France: RICHARD HANNON has confirmed that Canford Cliffs, rated the best two-year-old seen out so far this season, will make his next appearance in the Group 1 Darley Prix Morny at Deauville on Sunday August 23.

Not sure if any of the current "stars" will clash in the ARC on the 4th of Oct or at the Breeders Cup meeting on the 7th of Nov, but we are in for some brilliant racing.

Good punting!

enjoy

As a lifelong fan of 'lang asem' horses I have to say that Yeats really did it for me.

Good evening chaps and thanks for the comments.

I find this a great topic/subject.

You must consider that we all want a champion, and I have never seen so many potentials?

This could be boring, but when I watched Mill Reef, I could not believe that it was beat in the 2000 gns, however Brigadier Gerard was also a star in the same era.

imvho a great horse has to win a race like the ARC? I still rate this as the greatest race to win.

Lets see what happens, but we are all looking for a "TRUE SUPERSTAR" and they dont come every year, but at this moment of time we may have another?

Oxx plays down Sea The Stars 2010 campaign

JOHN OXX reported Sea The Stars on schedule for the Juddmonte International Stakes at York a week on Tuesday but added that he and the superstar's owner Christopher Tsui are looking no further than York and the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes.

He played down a newspaper report that the Stanjames.com 2,000 Guineas, Investec Derby and Coral-Eclipse hero could stay in training as a four-year-old if he was prevented from running in autumn targets like the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe by soft ground.

The trainer said on Thursday: "I was asked whether he might race on next season and said that the possibility hadn't even be discussed.

"We have said many times that Sea The Stars needs ground good or better and I doubt that we would even talk about keeping him in training next year unless the ground was to prevent him going for the races we have in mind for him for the rest of this year."
