Get in on the Kotzen winning concoction

Winterinthewoods pre-workout Monday

Racing at Scottsville today and it's the last KZN meeting for the
2008/2009 season so the plan is to see it off a winner. Who better to
stick with then than trainer Glen Kotzen having the season of his life
here in the Winter capital.
He has 3 that step up today headed by the 3 year old filly
Winterinthewoods in race 5. She's currently retailing at 7/2 and a
worthy bet at the price. According to oddsmakers there's two that have
her measure; both two year olds with limited but promising form. Just
how good they are represents the 'unknown' aspect of the race and what
stands in the way of a winning wager on Winterinthewoods.
Considering that Winterinthewoods has the jump on them in terms of age
and race experience at Scottsville, 7/2 is great deal and there's
various cover bet options to protect the wager in a limited field. Her
last run which was down the Scottsville straight was impressive, she
drew right away from the field in pursuit of eventual winner Giant's
Jewel and a repeat of that performance should be more than enough to
keep the upstarts at bay. It will take a serious 2 year old to get
anywhere near her, let alone beat her and she should thump this bunch
with ease.

Bullet in the making - Winterinthewoods in full cry (Monday)

I watched her put in a final sprint on Monday morning (see pic) and she
chewed up her pacework and went past us like a bullet at the end of the
750m stretch. My money is going down early in anticipation that the
price will be gone by lunchtime.

Cotton Club gets put through his paces on Monday morning by
assistant trainer Frikkie Greyling

Next up from the Kotzen stable is Cotton Club (pictured) in the 8th
race; having his 3rd run back from a long layoff and Glen reckons he
should be just about ready to fire now. Factoring in the promise he
showed early on he's a definite contender in this field, especially
since it's been whittled down to only 8 runners following the 4
scratchings earlier today. This now leaves Sport's Factor as 2/1
favourite but he has much more to do here than when winning his maiden
green as cannabis over shorter. Watch out for the impressive looking 3
year old colt Lindenburg, his form doesn't show much but it's only a
matter of time before he grows into himself and starts winning races.

3rd of the Kotzen trio, the 2 year old Wolf's Rain runs in the
2nd race and has been the subject of an early bookies' claim (pic
