Why don't we just answer "BAD", but trying to improve.

OK, my name is Dave and I am a gambler.
I have just been to Happy Hour and was going to stay at the pub, but I am now home.
Its cold so have the tv on sitting in bed with a bottle of wine and some cheese, gas fire on ready for the soccer have green and yellow pyjamas on just in case the 18/10 I took on Brazil to win the Cup wins.
I also took the 1000/1 on the USA just as a back up, but my heart wants SA to win, so you could say I am well covered.
good night and good punting!
scotia
ps my under rods are the star spangled banner just in case

Yup Dave,I think that self-analysis is a no-no for gamblers as almost all could not justify it.
All stats I have seen suggest that not more than about 5%-6% of punters show a profit consistently and over any length of time, and about 3% of punters profit enough to call it anything like a living.Interesting that I got to play golf with some of the Betfair team (out to try to make inroads into SA, through discussions with the authorities)and their stats support these figures as well, and yet include backers, layers and traders)
The ramifications of these stats is actually damn scary

Them stats are very similar to winning poker players, they reckon only 5% of poker players are lifetime winners and poker is supposed to be Skill based and not chance.
Like there is traders on the exchanges there is also traders on online poker sites(done a few months myself but didn`t like the grind) ready to take advantage of reckless gamblers/players..

Yes a sobering thought and must say I woke up this morning fairly "cream crackered".
However, we live to fight another day
enjoy!

The report is too simplistic.
There are other reasons why people gamble, but based on my experience, gamblers are adrenalin junkies or self-destructive risk takers.
The cliche that most gamblers wager because they want to lose is also simplistic, but closer to the point than the stud reveals.
Fortunately, there are lots of gamblers that are not sick or compulsive. This fuels the sport of horse racing.
I personally started out gambling to prove that I was "right."
Then I later gambled because I became an action junkie.
Then I gambled because I needed the money and could win at it.
Nowadays, I rarely bet invididual races, because my real gamble is in buying horses, which makes many other forms of gambling pale in comparison.
