What Happened? I see the wrong Bird won the Belmont.

Captain's Lover didn't get the ride we were looking for, which was to stay inside and race under cover to the homestretch and then be produced.

She broke too sharp, was too fresh, pulled early, made a nice move into the homestretch, but went one paced. She saw too much daylight in this race.

It is my fault. I gave DVD's to the rider to watch, but they were in PAL format and he couldn't view them.

I never got a chance to speak to the rider before the race, because the trainer had him mount the filly in her stall and leave the paddock early because he feared her unruly behavior.

Next time it should be a different story. She behaved well, she was just too fresh today, because the prep race for her last month did not go when it was rained off and canceled.

Hull got a beautiful ride, with the jockey never moving a muscle on him to the top of the homestretch, where he assumed command. His lead was brief, because once off the bridle, he failed to go on. The rider said he thought he was home free, but when he turned the colt loose, the former unbeaten 3yo flounded in the dry footing. The winner freaked, winning by more than 5 lengths. Hull was beaten 2 lengths for second, finishing fourth.
