THE Investec Derby on Saturday easily confirmed its status as racing's second biggest television attraction by pulling in a peak BBC1 audience of 2.8 million people.
This year's figure, although marginally down on the 3m figure achieved in the previous two years, still equated to an extremely healthy audience share of 26.4 per cent.
BBC head of TV sport Philip Bernie said: "These are very decent figures. The overall audience still shows that there is a particular interest in the Derby as one of the absolute crown jewels of the racing calendar."
