Last i heard that a consortium had put forward a bid ,but were refused a license in time so unable to get any fixtures for 2010,they are appealing tho..

BHA states criteria for Great Leighs to race
THE BHA has broken cover on its decision last week to reject an approach from prospective newowners of Great Leighs to stage fixtures either this year or next, by outlining exactly what would be required for an application to be successful.
In a prepared statement, BHA media relations manager Paul Struthers said on Wednesday: “Any application needs to establish how, when, and by whom matters are to be dealt with as part of a plan, together with supporting agreements and financial arrangements.”
The impression that a BHA sub-committee comprising director John Bridgeman and chief executive Nic Coward were unhappy with the robustness of the application appeared to be strengthened when Struthers added: “We will consider any application in relation to staging fixtures at Great Leighs that is accompanied by the relevant agreements and supporting documentation.”
A consortium of Essex businessmen, led by property developer and equestrian centre operator Terry Chambers and involving his friend and Great Leighs founder John Holmes, applied for a racing licence that would enable a new company, Great Leighs Holdings Ltd, to take part in an auction of 2010 fixtures next Monday.
Partners in the business advisory firm Deloitte, who have been involved since the track’s owner, the Essex County Showground Group, was taken into administration on January 16, said they had backed the new owner with an 18-month lease on the property.
Soon after the BHA rejection was revealed, a statement issued on behalf of the new owner publicised elements of the governing body’s decision, and expressed surprise that material supporting the application had not been regarded as sufficient for a positive outcome.
