Punter to collude with Findlay for Scoop6 bonus
THE West Country punter who won more than £310,000 for his "throwaway" £2 investment on the Tote Scoop6 last weekend, will attempt a £399,096 top up in the bonus race at Newmarket on Saturday.
Tony Wonnacott, 44, a regional director for a steel treatment company in Exeter, will be a guest on Channel 4's Morning Line on Saturday as he sets about solving the 15 runner stanjames.com Suffolk Handicap, the first race at Newmarket.
He was one of three winners of last week's Scoop6. He told racingpost.com that he will collude on the bonus prize selection with professional gambler and Scoop6 regular Harry Findlay, who staked £18,000. The other winner, who comes from near Rochdale in Lancashire, invested £96 and opted to remain anonymous, has told the Tote that he will go it alone.
Wonnacott, who made his bet at a Ladbrokes shop, was playing the Scoop6 for only a fourth time, said:"For only £2, I have paid off my mortgage and I'm set up for life - it has been a very emotional week. And now I get an opportunity to meet my two heroes, John McCririck and John Francome."
He added: "I've had a quick look at the bonus race and, to be frank, it looks impossible. I hope people will not think badly of me for going in with Harry, but the fact is that my Dad died when I was very young and I'll be doing this for my four brothers and sister.

£2 Scoop6 winner takes aim at huge bonus
THE £2 punter who was the sole winner of last weekend's Tote Scoop6 will be looking to boost his booty to wellover £400,000 on Saturday, when he aims to select the winner of the Coral.co.uk Sprint Handicap at Newmarket.
The single-line punter, who placed his bet in a Totesport shop in Cowley, Oxfordshire, and has chosen to remain anonymous, can take his winnings to £418,017 if successful in the 14-runner bonus race.
Saturday's Scoop6 comprises races from Haydock, Newmarket and Beverley, all of which are on Channel 4, with the highlight being the Betfred.com Temple Stakes at Haydock.
"It was a great effort from our £2 punter to be the only Scoop6 player to pick all six winners last weekend and we wish him all the best in his quest to land the bonus," said Totepool spokesman George Primarolo.
Scoop6 races
2.05 Haydock, 2.35 Haydock, 3.10 Haydock, 3.25 Newmarket, 3.40 Haydock, 3.50 Beverley
