Champions Day - important dates

Eight feature races will be run at Turffontein on Champions Day, Saturday 25 April, including the R2-million Champions Challenge over 2000m.

Three-year-old Eddington, trained by Dominic Zaki, won last year's Champions Challenge.

The other feature events are:

R1.5-million SA Derby (G1), Leg 3 of the SA Triple Crown; R1-million Computaform Sprint (G1); R750,000 SA Oaks (G2), Leg 3 of the SA Triple Tiara; R500,000 The Nursery (G2); R500,000 Gold Bowl (G2); R400,000 The Fillies Nursery (G2) and the R220,000 Camellia Stakes (G2)

Important dates for the Champions Challenge:
First entries: Monday 2 March
Second entries: Monday 30 March
Third entries, weights and draws: Tuesday 14 April
Declarations: 16 April

Important dates for the other features:
Entries: Monday 6 April
Supplementary entries and weights: Tuesday 14 April
Declarations: Thursday 16 April

last year the stake for the champions challenge was 3.5 mil and now according to scotias piece its down to 2 mil...it was also known as the gomma gomma challenge...

will need to win tues plus on the 4th 'trial' race = fees no issue - lol!
