Afternoon russell, we already have a couple of earlier threads on the subject and its a shame that both here and the UK that racing does not have a high profile.
You can see on my BBC personality thread that racing had 51 seconds on a 2 and a half hour show!!!

You know what amazes me.....
If you look at the owners and their profiles, well at least some of them, one would see how influencial they are in the real world. Some of them are not just "ordinaries" like some of us. These people are directors etc etc.
Surely with that sort of power and contacts, they can start making the wheel turn for the better of horse racing.
I would love to be involved in the racing spectrum other than just a normal punter.
For me I just love horses. I would love to take the industry to new heights pr at least help do so. I'm a mechanical Engineer so I think I can help in sort of way????????????????????????

Racing as a sport is in a decline in SA, and has been for decades.

25 years ago Northfields stood at a fee of R50,000. What would the equivalent be today? The price of 2 S-class mercs or maybe 7 fords? 800k maybe?

About 12 years ago I saw a file made of newspaper cuttings regularly collected about racing from all our major newspapers, Looked like stacks of telephone books covering July's & Mets, derbys and guineas' with great names...Mark Anthony, Model Man, Roland Song...All printed 2 inches tall on front and back pages.

Before we get to new heights, we might try for old heights.

Have a good xmas, you fanatics, I wish you a few great punts.
