THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Once the horses had proceeded to the start, the Stewards received a report that Jockey X Ndlovu (MASKED VIGILANTE) might be under the influence of alcohol.
A Steward was despatched to the start.
Jockey X Ndlovu was breathalysed and a positive result was recorded.
Jockey X Ndlovu was taken off his mount by the Stewards and, in consultation with Assistant Trainer A Mtengwana, replacement Jockey MK Katjedi weighed out and was transported to the start to replace Jockey X Ndlovu on MASKED VIGILANTE.
This caused a delay to the start of this race.
During this delay, all Riders were given permission to dismount and lead their horses.
An Inquiry will be opened into the above incident

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that, at an Inquiry held in Gqeberha on Friday, 14 August 2026, Jockey X C Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rules 77.1.1 and 77.2.1.
The charge arose from Jockey Ndlovu presenting himself to ride at Fairview Racecourse on 7 August 2026 while having a banned substance, namely alcohol, in his system.
Jockey Ndlovu pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty as charged.
After considering the mitigating and aggravating factors presented during the Inquiry, the Inquiry Board imposed a suspension from riding in races for a period of thirty (30) days, nine (9) days of which were wholly suspended for a period of one (1) year, on condition that Jockey Ndlovu is not found guilty of a contravention of Rule 77.1.1 or Rule 77.2.1 during the period of suspension.
Jockey Ndlovu was advised of his right to appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed and waived his right to appeal.
Accordingly, Jockey Ndlovu is suspended from riding in races from 15 August to 4 September 2026, both dates inclusive

Charles definitely has an alcohol problem. This is not the first time that he has been caught.
He needs serious help and hope that the authorities will assist him.
