Higher and Higher
Good morning, Clan โ I hope this finds you all well.
Health update:
The immune system is still not great, and unfortunately, thereโs been no improvement in the right eye despite plenty of tablets. The plan now is to ensure it doesnโt spread to the good eye ๐.
Iโve got a follow-up appointment on Monday with another doctor. As the saying goes: in the valley of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
On a brighter note ๐
Itโs a cracking weekend of sport, with the highlight undoubtedly being the Springboks game. We do have comments on the site, but in my humble view, the Boks will take the Championship. Theyโve already shortened from 10/11 to 8.5/10 and should go 4/10 after this weekend.
On the racing front, our daily threads cover the local action with all the insights you need to find the winners.
Overseas, Newmarket hosts some top-class racing, and William Buick is the jockey to follow.
Looking further ahead, Ka Ying Rising is 8/10 to head to Australia and win The Everest on 18 October. Then on Saturday, 1 November, the Breedersโ Cup promises to be a superb evening, with Field of Gold potentially lining up against Notable Speech. Ombudsman may also feature in the Cup Turf โ and heโs a real star.
Itโs been another busy week, with our Scotland presentation for the school kids on Heritage Day. George kindly invited me to the RA function at Randjies the same day โ excellent company, food, and live music.
Scotia was only allowed a limited drink, though free ice cream was on the menu ๐ฆ (sadly, not for me!).
Mrs S, as always, keeps a watchful eye on me and makes sure I stay on track โ she definitely deserves a medal.
To lift the spirits, hereโs a classic from the past to keep us moving higher and higher:
Fred dancing to the Jackie Wilson classic...
Good punting, and enjoy the weekend!
