I missed my weekend post as it’s been quite a busy week.We were treated to a wonderful gift from my sister in the UK – a two-day trip to a luxury five-star spa just outside Pretoria. It included various treatments, superb food, and much-needed relaxation.On Saturday, George took me to Turffontein for the
Horse Care, Mark and Dorrie Sham Fundraising Day 👏 (photos are up on the site).
I felt a little weak after all the festivities but I’m still very much alive and kicking.
Both Sides Now
As the title suggests, there are always two sides to every story.Despite my family telling me not to, I continue to follow the news.
On the subject of the death penalty in South Africa, I believe it could dramatically change our crime statistics. Police 🚔 seem to be making more of an impact recently, with several dangerous criminals dealt with at crime scenes.
The alternative is our broken judicial system, where cases drag on for years with endless bail applications. It’s a truly shocking situation.
As for the UK 🇬🇧 and Ukraine 🇺🇦 – here’s a thought: why not give illegal immigrants the choice of fighting against Russia or being returned to their homeland?
Sport
We enjoyed two superbly competitive rugby 🏉 matches over the weekend and are looking forward to next week’s action. My hunch is that we could see a DRAW, but most likely Australia and New Zealand will secure home wins.
Tennis 🎾
The US Open was fantastic to watch – top-class competition all the way.
Football ⚽
The EPL took a break due to international fixtures, but this weekend we have two massive derbies:
- Manchester: City vs United
- Liverpool: Reds vs Toffees
Horse Racing 🐎
