I was wondering if this syndicate has been explained on ABC previously.
socialsquad.co.za/
Is it subsidized by Cape Racing?
Website not clear.

.....problem with most syndicates is that one does not get to choose the horses that you want to be involved in.....here they seem to group the horses but still one can still not pick and choose.....no good that a syndicate could have a cracker but lumped in with a bunch of battlers that you have to pay and feed while your goodie earns the others eat away your chance of breaking even.....

The Social Squad. no nominee???
The Social Squad nom : J vermaak
The Social Squad nom : T Gilmour
What does the NHRA have to say?

I'm interested in the machinations, small timers want a static defined cost

I dont know for sure BUT I am not stupid......I would be disappointed if it was NOT in-house funding. Why lose horses to another country? Believe it or not horse have another value and that is the value to the operator every time they run. If the math can be done properly then these "lower" handicapped horses can run, sometimes earn but make field sizes. I think it's a great thing. Are they a true syndicate no not really. Do they have upfront buying costs at the yearling sale no not really. but it cannot be bad for the game.

Cost of all these horses? Who are the members?

The members are anyone who wants to buy shares ....any member of the public....I presume cape racing buys them then puts up a syndicate with a nominee and you can buy shares.....it seems obvious that horses are given to smaller trainers....there are quite a few horses you can see were bought on auction at the online sales so you can see the prices there...I've no involvement this is purely what I see and can determine from the net and their pages...I recall the young commentator Pretorius was a nominee at one point and had to turn it in when he got the Malaysian gig
