With Turffontien being the only meeting and the jockey championship being interesting this year🤔

I am sure Zackey,  Lerena and Fourie are all in the region of 100 each
still think that Fourie will pull away at the end .

Zackey Has a few decent mounts today and Gavin also not without a chance and look forward to seeing Zeus in action.

Pls note Turffontein’s race meeting scheduled for today (5/1/25), has been postponed until tomorrow.

Turffontein received 12mm of rainfall overnight , which took the total rainfall for the week yo over 95mm.

Gallops have just been concluded and it was unanimous the track was not suitable for racing , and therefore the decision to postpone until tomorrow has been made.

Intermittent rain here in Randburg but when it comes it's bucketing down. Hopefully the south gets less and it lays off so we can race tomorrow

Pls note current rainfall and pen reading are as follows.

Turffontein has received an additional 5mm of rainfall up to now and the current pen reading is 26.

The Vaal has received 7.5mm of rainfall today and the current pen reading is 20.

Gallops will be conducted at Turffontein at 7:30am tomorrow to decide if the track is suitable for racing.

Plan B would be to move the meeting to the Vaal Classic Track , if that option is possible (dependent on the amount of rainfall tonight)

More to follow after the gallop

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT- VENUE CHANGE:

Please be advised that the race meeting scheduled for Turffontein on 6th January 2025 has been moved to the Vaal Classic Track.

In contrast, the Vaal Classic Track has experienced significantly less rainfall over the past seven days, and the current pen reading is 22: Good, which is ideal for racing.

Distance Changes:
Races 1 and 2: 1200m
Races 7 and 8: 1450m
All other race distances remain unchanged.
Race Times (as published yesterday) remain the same:

Moved to the Vaal Classic - so draws are very important around the turn - plus the fact that many stables have been unable to properly work their horses - so a real guessing game, but we try anyway ....

R1: On form I fancy Legendary (has the beating of these using collateral form) - plus a nice inside draw; Flight Engineer a danger reverting to a sprint

R2: I have burnt my fingers before with Pretty Precious and today she has a wide draw, so not for me; Great Notion improving and has a slightly better draw; Gimme a Storm probably next best - but I will watch the betting closely before the off with regards to the first-timers

R3: Does look a 2-horse contest between Gerbera and Roaming Spirit - G has pole position so has the advantage imo

R4: Mountain High another chance to get it right; not really anything else that jumps out - Lightinthestorm from a good draw and Chieftan's Shield probably next best

R5: Only 5 runners remain; should lie between Zeus and Red Maple who is still well weighted, but I will not leave out Crimson King who at 8s look the value

R6: Handicap - I could not make up my mind, but settled on Red Bomber, which was subsequently scratched; so this does not look easy; both Command Pilot and Joker Man are well drawn and JM has upset portential - has won 4 in a row before a visit to KZN last year

R7: Not sure how ready Vulcanite is after a 3-month break, but best in and a good draw, so not to be left out; Salenion Peninsula better drawn and has a slight weight advantage with Miss Lia, but they both have chances; Cocomelon from pole position has Muzi up and could spring a surprise - can't get hurt at 12s

R8: Very competitve and both highest rated runners are drawn wide; Greaterix better drawn and is a warm order, but no value at the odds; Potberrie improved recently and looks each-way value at 33/1 from a good draw

R9: Use that pin

Enjoy
