So my French is as good as my English, which is not so good.

A story out of Mauritius that does not seem to go away.

I have not posted any of the pictures or videos, but they are readily available on Social media.

Must lead one to ask does NHRA at least investigate the claims as it is an ex SA race horse that is mentioned. And most horses on the island are from SA historically.

HORSE ABUSE
PETIT GAMIN ABUSE ALLEGED, HORSE RACING DIVISION DENIES ABUSE

The equestrian center managed by Global Equestrian Ltd is being singled out for allegations of mistreatment of its horses. Photos and videos are currently circulating on social media showing visibly mutilated horses, which has caused a wave of indignation. The Horse Racing Division (HRD) visited the site on Saturday, December 7, 2024, accompanied by officers from the Ministry of Agro-Industry. The HRD did not detect any cases of mistreatment. However, there is regrettable the complete lack of communication from Global Equestrian Ltd on the circumstances of the Gordonstoun case. Global Equestrian Ltd nevertheless justifies its silence.
"The Horse Racing Division became aware of social media posts on Saturday, December 7, 2024, reporting racehorses being mistreated at an equestrian center (...) ," the division said.
The networks were full of images of horses that were already visibly dead. The misdeed was attributed to the negligence of the Petit Gamin equestrian center. In one of the photos, a hoof can be seen behind a door. "That's the one you find in the photo, that's the poor Gordounstoun. Yesterday since 5:30 in the morning, his hoof was stuck in the door. At 10 a.m., the veterinarian came to see him and he was put down ," denounced an Internet user on an amateur Facebook page dedicated to the country's equestrian activity.
"Lack of professionalism"
Others on the same platform have criticised the lack of professionalism of the foreign workers on site. Is that Gordonstoun in the photo? The Horse Racing Division simply used "Gordonstoun (fractured left front leg and severe wounds)" to explain the reasons for his euthanasia. No official communication has been published, either from Global Equestrian Ltd or HRD, to explain the circumstances of the incident that led to Gordonstoun's injury and subsequent euthanasia.
While it is understandable that this is an isolated incident, the complete lack of official communication from Global Equestrian Ltd on the subject is surprising. This is despite the scale of the wave of indignation on social networks. "This way of doing things aimed at not being accountable to anyone continues to work against them..." suggests one observer.
Let's continue with the Horse Racing Division press release issued this Saturday, December 7, 2024: "The HRD wishes to inform the general public and in particular horse lovers that it carried out two inspections at the Petit Gamin Center on November 28, 2024 and December 7, 2024 (the latter following the allegations on social media), as well as at the stables located at Shakespeare Street, Champ de Mars, Port-Louis, on November 29, 2024; with the aim of ensuring that the racehorses are not subjected to any mistreatment. These inspections took place under the supervision of the race stewards, in the presence of the HRD veterinarian. During the visits to the Petit Gamin Center and Shakespeare Street at Champ de Mars, the HRD did not detect ANY CASES OF HORSE MISTREATMENT, as alleged by the publications on social media (...)."
"Machination"
Behind the scenes at Global Equestrian Ltd, they claim to be measuring the machinations behind the rumours of mistreatment: "We must demonise the Petit Gamin centre for obvious reasons. We must not forget the Slinga Malinga case in 2014 at the MTC when a fan exploded and killed the horse. The importer King Bros had indicated that the fan was more than three years old and had never been serviced."
this same source will add. “Some photos are not of Petit Gamin,” thunders at Global Equestrian Ltd.
It is explained that it does not want to communicate on this case of mistreatment since an official government communication "will have more weight" . Concerning Gordonstoun, Global Equestrian Ltd indicates that it does not know the precise circumstances of the incident. The surveillance and rotation system is said to be "reliable" . An internal investigation will take place. It should be noted that in addition to the HRD, officers from the Ministry of Agro-industry and Food Safety as well as the Mauritius Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) also went to the site. No offences were noted.
