9 months 1 week agoTo my mind the best bet of the day must be Thunee Playa (friendly wave to @Tnaicker.... 57/100 fp on HB) ..... and Rock of Bismantova is overpriced imo .... so I took the 4 way doubles ....
Nice one Magi

9 months 1 week agoMy guesses for the handicap races...
Race 5 - 5 Risky Business
Race 6 - 1 Nordic Rebel
Race 7 - 11 Warm Winter Nite
Race 8 - 4 Dancing Dora
All the best to fellow Clanners...
One and done for the day...3 big fields coming up so all the best to fellow Clanners...

Welcome Daryl@69 !! There was a time when on this forum the regulars and old hands would welcome newbies.... methinks manners dieth with age {snorts.... exits stage left}
The great Maggi...as he has been referred to...has 105 keys on his keyboard, and is determined to use every one...{snort the white powder, and I think he may be an ex-thespian?)

It's just great to see Platvoet Magi, TNaicker posting more regularly again...
Of course Scotia and Hibs...keep it altogether
and then the forum specialists...Frodo, Sylvester, Mr Hawaii, Bayern, Muhtiman, Heinrich, PeterD, Oscar, Zietsman, NeilP, Brandon (Both of them) and kristieN(a more dedicated person I have yet to meet, has been posting his JP Quickmix for so long, and I have yet to understand the QM)
Chicken n Chips...who no longer partakes in SA racing...and his Nemesis, Craig Pienaar,....and I still wonder about Gregbucks...
FacethePace, Durbs (who loves to be controversial, I think), Thor, Man whatKnows, Peterpan who has joined along lately along the lines of Frodo, and of course EtK (Elvis) and many more that I forget currently
Get involved, people...it's only your opinion...and we all have one...

Re: 29 August 2024 Racing Vaal Free state
9 months 1 week agoRace 1 was a surprise for me...SotM stone last...25 views vs 0 comments...Race 1 Shadow of the Moon -related to Dyce, Fireburst interesting owners, On a Jet Plane - nice name
Race 2 Quite a few that make appeal. Petigrew yard in good form
Race 3 Very poor field
Race 4 Competitive - Strewn Sky
Race 5 Risky Sky maybe good enough to carry the extra 5 points. , swingers with Zoom bomber
Race 6 Nordic rebel 11 year old. why not!!!
Race 7 5 with chances all of 3 5 8 10/11
Race 8 not for me poor field
thanks for your views Sly...3 points that you raise that interest me...
R1 the breeding, I'm always interested, especially in siblings that have shown to be fast starters, by this I mean that they win their maidens as youngsters or within their first 5 starts.
R2 the yard that is in form...
R5 Zoombomber...if there is a horse that I thought may do more and has really disappointed me...you can underline this one...
R6 Nordic Rebel...this takes me back to the days of the Passmores at Clairwood with Galvinator, Numerator(not sure anymore) and a couple others that now slip my mind...11 years old with the top weight jocks up...Dennis Bosch being one...I'm don't think that current handicapping is an improvement
Race 2...it pays to follow form
Race 5 ZB confirmed my beliefs
Race 6...NR poor performance
I also confirmed that I have no idea about racing, and like to choose my picks to post...
