John Steenhuisen is working to recover R500 million in missing Agriculture money

 

Horses resident in the AHS controlled area may only be vaccinated between 1 June and 31 October.

No horse resident in the AHS surveillance and free zones shall be vaccinated against AHS without official permission from the Boland State Vet.

While it will be of little comfort to horse owners, City Press reported on Sunday morning that Agricultural Minister John Steenhuisen has uncovered a scandal in which R500 million allocated to the department cannot be accounted for.

According to the report, the previous administration was given a grant by government to revamp an important facility that produces many of the vaccines needed for animal health in South Africa. A forensic audit is likely to follow

.....this problem was flagged over 2 years ago and the ANC government has being ducking this issue hoping it would go away....c/&p from a post last year that tried to get action then

....I believe that there are big problems with the manufacture of the AHS vaccines and not enough to meet the demand.....also a big stink in the pricing of the vaccine and an agricultural body SAAI is looking to take legal action against the government as they are responsible for the manufacturing thereof.....also see some pharmaceutical bodies also laying blame for similar in some other vaccines that are also manufactured locally and are not available or being priced up similarly....:ohmy:

It's mind boggling 

So what we are saying after the euphoria after many years of trying to get the OK to export horses 🐎 

Now that we have the go ahead to send horses overseas 😀 
We actually have the in-house restriction of no vaccine available?

Surely there would have been checks and balances, minimum stock levels on such an important issue.
