Investigation/stable inspection – Trainer Kelly Mitchley stables – 9 August 2024The NHA has opened an investigation into the number of epistaxis cases from Trainer K. Mitchley's stable yard over the recent past. This morning, NHA officials and veterinarians conducted an on-site investigation to identify potential causes. Trainer Mitchley was interviewed and advised to collaborate closely with her veterinarian to mitigate any potential risk factors. The NHA is committed to rider safety, horse welfare and the integrity of races and will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Surely epistaxis resides with the horse/genetics? Or are they saying that horses that exhibited no indications before, are becoming more prone? (excuse my incorrect grammar/word choice)

.....epistaxis may also be triggered by pollutants and environment but PE is far better than most other places.....then pollutants can also be in what is brought into stables like certain  VOC's in paints, floor and timber coatings, similarly contaminated wood through pesticides and then used as shavings for bedding or even certain rubber mats some tried using to save on bedding.....

....there are many past posts on this bleeding topic....some may open up old wounds on this matter.... like a prominent international owner syndication that came to our market believing that we had far less bleeders though our isolation from the USA breeding market.....that is until a day when one of his top horses bled on a race day along with 6 others on the same day....
