What an exciting racing weekend for 50 years πΎ
1 year 2 months ago
Good morning all and I have to rush to have my head polished and a beard trim before going to a nice restaurant on Friday evening to celebrate πΎ our anniversary.
After meeting Sue at a nightclub over 50 years ago, on our first date I took her to Powderhall, greyhound stadium.
She suggested a movie for the following week
So I took her to see A Horse called Nijinsky.
We are currently in Hillcrest and there is a large tree π³ next to the balcony, we've had plenty of monkeys appear by day and many funny noises at night. By process of elimination we discovered that it was dassies or hyrax nocturnal animals that "only come out at night" but they are not "Maneaters".βΊοΈ
Back to horse π racing and we have the Dubai World Cup meeting on Saturday.
I believe people were protesting due to TV rights. It turns out the
Dubai cartoon channel was blocked π« if people tried to watch the Flintstones they couldn't get the channel but the ABU DHABI DO's have itπ€£
You will read on the site about the Hong Kong World Pools and I suggest you consider the following for your Australian links and exotics.
Flemington
Race 7 Estriella going for hat trick.
Race 8 Mr Brightside for Craig Williams.
Rosehill
Race 8 Post Impressionist for Tom Marquand and William Haggas.
Race 9 Another Wil for Jamie Kah looking for a four timer.
Back to Meydan
All the stars will be there, Dettori, Moore, Obrien and the "Japanese" π
Liberty Island can beat Auguste Rodin in the Sheema Classic.
Sprint can go to California Spangle.
Derby should go to Forever Young.
World Cup where Ushba Tesoro can keep the Japanese flag flying.
It's the Irish Grand National on the 1st of April and don't be fooled to see Mullins also win this one.
The Grand National from Aintree is run on the 13th of April during the flat season and Corach Rambler looks best.
The 2000gns is on the 4th of May and City of Troy (Obrien/Moore) looks another star and is also fav for the Derby.
On the subject of the Derby we have a padlock on the outside garden shed with a combination lock.
1 9 7 3 and Sue says that I will never remember these numbers as the brain cells have deteriorated.
I said to her I'll just remember Morston, it won the Derby in 1973, 1972 was Roberto who stopped Brigadier Gerards winning sequence the following year.
1971 was Mill Reef my favourite horse and Nijinsky 1970 was the last horse to win the triple crown.
In fairness to Sue, I can't remember what I had for supper last night π
The final field's were announced on Wednesday for Champions Day at Turffontien on the 6th and we should be back for another exciting day.
Hopefully it's a case of Deja Vu with the treble Almond Sea, Pistol Pete and Gimme A Nother.
Sandringham Summit could have another problem with At My Command.
The Oaks looks set for Silver Sanctuary for the MDK/FOURIE combination. Derby, Sprint and Premier might need some consideration but a pick 6 perm is worth a bash and the Hollywood punters competition is always worth a "take bet" option on a day where a few quads should cover your stake.
After 50 years of marriage there was talk of some type of medal or reward for Mrs S for staying all those years with a gambler who has a drinking disorder π€
Good Punting π
As I am writing this early Thursday morning just check for scratchings and betting updates.
This is still one of our favourite songs.
