A sobering thought from Johnnie Walker

Dear Dave

The House of Walker has created one of the rarest blends the world has ever known – Johnnie Walker® Blue Label™ 1805 – to commemorate the birth of its founder John Walker. As a Striding Man Society member you are being given the opportunity to bid for this item.

This supremely rare blend has been made using whiskies, which have been aged to perfection from distilleries, which no longer exist, making it all the more precious. Housed in a hand-made Victorian style writing case,
the set comes complete with an antique nib pen, reminiscent of the era in which John Walker blended his whiskies. In addition, a replica of the original handwritten recipe book of Alexander Walker, John Walker’s grandson is included. The recipe for this blend has been destroyed, making it impossible to replicate. No further 1805 stocks will ever be produced, which adds to this item’s rarity and value.

The proceeds of this last bottle – which carries a reserve price of R190 000 – will be auctioned at an exclusive banquet hosted by the House of Walker. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to Project Literacy to help save its Siyafunda adult literacy classes in Soweto.

Members of The Striding Man Society who would like to bid for this item may contact Stella Wink on
(021) 448 7407 by 24 October 2008.

I would suggest, in My Very Humble Opinion, that the Striding Man should Keep Walking.

Wow!! R200,000 for 15 doubles...........R 13,333 each.

And I drink like a Mine Worker.

Enjoy.
