Playing for Change and York
1 year 9 months ago - 1 year 9 months ago
Good morning all as we approach another Punting weekend.
We have been trying to get back to normal after our wonderful few days in the bush.
It was certainly time for us to take it easy and I decided to have a salad and stop drinking 🍸 for a few days.
First day being healthy I felt dizzy to such an extent I had to visit the doctor.
I was sure high blood, pressure & high sugar etc., was responsible.
However the bottom line was that all my normal concerns were 100% and I had picked up an inner ear infection and now on medication but should be OK soon, in fact I feel better already if I ignore yet another major shortage of power in the area, over and above the actual schedule.
The ladies World Cup football was great and I had a wee punt on England, which is normally against any Scottish DNA but a good win and I expect them to win the final.
The Equus awards take place on Wednesday and I am sure it will be a spectacular event with some well deserved winners receiving accolades in this difficult game.
The Summer Cup is still some time away so overseas racing is still the main focus.
The York Ebor meeting kicks off on Wednesday 23rd and more details to follow next week.
Wednesday the 23rd we have the Juddmonte International with a cracker of a field.
Paddington 1/1
Mostahdaf 4/1
Desert Crown 4/1
We also have the Great Voltigeur.
Yorkshire Oaks is on the Thursday
Savethelastdance for the Obrien/Moore combination could be the right one again
We also have the Lowther Stakes, Premier Yearling and Heritage.
Friday 25th we have the Nunthorpe Stakes where if Highfield Princess turns up the 28/10 on offer could be a steal.
Also the Grimcrack .
ARC ante post
The French star Ace Impact still tops the boards at 4/1
Paddington might go a different route but is available at 14/1
St Leger where I think Savethelastdance might go for the last Classic and is worth a 6/1 punt .
As far as the Melbourne Cup on the 7th November let's stick with another Irish Mestro Wille Mullins to show how versatile Vauban is.
Rugby world cup: where understandably France 7/2 have gone second favs after support for the mighty All Black's 28/10;
The Boks are 6/1 and the Jocks 40/1.
Ireland 5/1.
Some short term options for the weekend to give the punters some ammo for the weekend.
I really hope Humble Tune can win today for Zietsman and Craig could make the difference as the Tune has not won a race since Sampson died.
At Newbury today the well named Boiling Point (evens) can go one better for the Varian/Doyle combination
Plus also note that the Hollywood horse Bourgeoisie also runs in the first at Newbury 5/2 in race one and should also go close 🤞
The big football game in the Premiership is Man City vs Newcastle and I am hoping the Geordies can give a good account of themselves.
I was sad to hear about the passing of Robbie Robertson of the BAND as I have used & enjoyed much of his music over the years. Also, sad to hear of the passing of another legend, Sir Michael Parkinson loved his interviews with the " Big Yin" Plus the ones with him & Mohamed Ali.
Good Punting 👍

A small eachway on COAST in the first at Wolverhampton could make York lighter on the wallet/ Currently 20/1
