PUTIN on the Agony
1 year 10 months ago - 1 year 10 months ago
Good morning all as we approach another weekend.
The focus should be on horse racing but we have such interesting times in SA its difficult to ignore the current events taking place.
I am aware that SA appears to be living in a war zone if we consider electricity and water shortages, crime, unemployment, theft from our leaders, poor transportation and a Judiciary that is so complex it can't solve above.
Yesterday we had an explosion in the centre of Joburg possibly linked to gas?
The news that Putin is not coming is a blessing.
I am not sure of the background and possibly the madman was concerned about his own safety but at least it's one less worry for SA and a real war is on the back burner.
Let's talk about horse racing:
Today's local meeting from the Vaal looks like a punters card and we might have another possible Hollywood competition winner?
It's PE on Friday weather permitting and Humble still can't find a race on the grass after a couple of months.
However he is forced to run on Poly from the worst draw and not sure how good the jockey is but stable companion looks better.
Maybe another exacta with a second at 66/1 again.
The Gold Cup meeting on the 30th of July should be a cracker with massive tote pools and the pick 6 is a must.
Lucky Lad, Gimme A Prince and See It Again all potential bankers but the Champions Cup a bit more competitive than most are predicting.
Let's not forget the King George on the 29th where it's possible AUGUSTA RODIN, King of Steel, Desert Crown and Emily Upjohn might all meet.
We have our daily UK update thread with more info and must say Brandon was on the ball yesterday with a high paced UK update show after the local racing had finished.
I was considering the difference between our local feed and UK racing yesterday and I think our problem is that our horses go to the start early and our presenters feel obligated to discuss every horse extensively to the extent they are having a pie and a coke on the 4th horse to make up the suggested quartet.
In the UK they go down, go behind and then race with minimal tipping at the last second.
Let's be honest who is actually including the presenters exotics with 5 seconds before the race?
The lads on Weighted to Win have obviously done their homework and get to the point and are normally accurate, if you need help outside your own selection rather just use them.
As far as the title of the thread you are probably a bit young to remember Lonnie Donegan.
When I was about 5 years, it was my first exposure to skiffle music with my uncles playing a banjo, washing board, tambourine and spoons.
It was good fun music.
Good Punting

7 people are currently 7/7 at VAAL with 2 races to go.
Selections for Race 8:
3x Thunderstone
1x Prophet
1x Moonshiningthrough
2x Aussenkehr
All players have NOT taken a bet and therefore missed the chance at R1.48 MILLION.
The Jackpot prize of *R740 000* is up for grabs!
