Straight out of the box selections by my software for Race 7 the Durban July main event. Don't know how that happened (told you yesterday the software was on dope) but there you have it, the longest priced horse, (at the time of checking the odds, she was 90-1) #1 Bless my Stars on top with #3 Time Flies followed by Winchester Mansion, Without Question and See it again. Please note the VTR ratings are 1/2,2/4,4 so it can't separate runners 2,3 and 4,5. Also the ratings are very close (showing how competitive the race is and how closely matched the runners) all the way to Jimmy Don 35pts separating those top 8 then a drop by 20 pts.

Few thoughts .....

In the first I think Moving In worth an each-way has imo run against stronger behind Mrs Geriatrix - Secret Identity biggest danger but even though it won from a wide draw last time - it has to repeat the trick

2nd I like Main Defender from Jerusalema Rain

3rd - take your pick

4th - Future Pearl, but I think Rex Union may be a bit of a dark horse - runs well here

5th - Mrs Geriatrix - but I'm taking her on over the 1400 with White Pearl; think Egyptian Mau also very capable but all to do from a double-figure draw

6th - Gimmeanothechance now a fair price imo - enough early speed to overcome the draw; Golden Tatjana could be the danger if getting the trip

July - Still think the older horses - Winchester Mansion from Rascallion - but still not sure who is going to make the pace - perhaps Silver Darling

In the 8th it looks a 2-horse race and I prefer Desert Miracle - but will take cover in the JP with a few - as this race is prone to upsets

R9: Open - I fancy Gobsmacked, while Cosmic Highway has the class and may feature if back to best after gelding

R10: Also open - maybe Captain Fontane if he does not get too far back

Last 2 races I think anyone's guess

That Grandstand shadow appeared to be the cause, once again. Has caused some bad falls in the past...

I think the 2nd horse may have been a bit stiff - yes was shifting out the last 200m, but right at the post (or maybe after the post ?) the winner shifted in sharply - that's the way the cookie crumbles :dry:

I agree with the outcome. I think the race was over.
To me the horse appeared to shy away from the shadow.
