I think it is because Cape Town is the future hub of racing.
Mostly because of infrastructure maintenance and competency.
Also best run city.

There is a tailwind today so respect the front runners as the course will be fast.
Race 1 Unless there is a useful first timer then this looks a boat race between our filly, Everlasting and Electric Feels. I don't think that there is much between them. We have dropped back to the 1000m on the recommendation of Khumalo who rode her last time over 1200m at kenilworth. Hopefully it does the trick, and she gets the services of Fourie which is a plus. Both her and the favourite are drawn on the outside which can be an issue if the usual SE was blowing, but with the tailwind the draw is not a problem. I think that we have a good winning chance today as she is fit and well and her work has been good.
race 2 Moderate form amongst the raced runners so it would be no surprise if a first timer were to win. Charlie Malone and Not In Doubt look the best of the raced runners.
race 3 A very tricky MSW, as some of the better runners, Carriacou, Promettere and Holy Orders have wide draws to overcome. No selection
Race 4 Another MSW but I like Kingdom of Heaven which ran a very good debut and Laughing William which showed good improvement behind a decent sort last time.
race 5 Saartjie is my banker and looks the best bet on the card.
race 6 An open race. Varistocracy should have come on from his last and is my first choice. Georgie George, Wylie jack and Jury Duty look the main dangers.
race 7 Very tricky as many are just prepping over a distance that's too short, but we have often seen top class middle distance horses win over this course and trip running fresh. Rio Querari is the class sprinter but comes off a long rest. Trip of Fortune is not too well in at the weights but is in good form and has improved after the gelding. Good Traveller is also a classy sprinter. Tempting Fate is also distance suited and although this is his first seasonal run in the Cape he won a good race a few weeks ago in KZN. Kommetdieding can't be left out as he has a good turn of foot and is a class package.
race 8 The draws could again have an influence. I like hold My Hand to win this. Ciao Bella is improving and also gets a nice draw. Golden Hostess, Time Fo Orchids and Who Do You Love all have claims but tough draws, Tipsy Tarragon was a bit disappointing last time but has run better this course and can't be ignored.
Race 9 Champion Warrior goes for a hattrick and looks the one to beat. Its quite open if he fails, with all of Wyag, Voldemort, Tout A Fait, William Rufus, Beerenberg and Runaway Song capable.

Re: HOLLYWOODBETS KENILWORTH SATURDAY 12 NOVEMBER
2 years 6 months agoWhy is Kenilworth stronger than JHB at this time of year?
Maybe programming has a lot to do with where trainers are "aiming" their charges.
Just a question, has any horse won the Summer Cup, and then gone on to win the Met two months later?
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

In my time, El Picha came the closest. Won the July, Summer Cup and was almost home in the Met but got caught by the then 3yo Badgers Coast. Would have won the big "three" races in South Africa.

Thanks Naresh, certainly looks like a difficult feat to pull off. The top two Grades One's in Cape Town, the Queens Plate and Met, Plated and Special Conditions races, so i would imagine if a trainer feels his charge is not at "that level", what's the point of making the trip. The Met, the weight favours the higher-ups in the MR, so why not take your one's chances in the Summer Handicap and skip the Cape season.

There is support for Electric Feels, 13/10 with WSB in from 15/10, for what it's worth.
