Why the wait?

Can someone tell me why we're having to wait until Feb 09 for 3 race meetings a week?

I seemed to remember that toward the end of last season the were extra meetings scheduled to 'catch up' with the lack of the night racing - therefore why are we waiting so long this time?

It's very frustrating for all concerned I'm sure. As an owner, I have been patient in waiting for my two to mature, and here we are 9 weeks into the season and no additional meeting in order to facilitate all the 'stock' getting a run.

Or will there be race 'splitting' for maidens like last week at Turffies, at The Vaal too?

I muct say as one who owns from afar, it's a hard thing trying to organise a trip and have to cross everything that your beauts on the ground 4-5 weeks later. As youre all aware R7k is a 'cheap' flight from the UK - and it'll prob be @least R10k if I were to wait until a few days before - rock and a hard place.

So I have an idea - not only for me but for everyone in general.

In the UK Greyhound racing 'bags trainers' are contracted to have a certain amount of Dogs on the 'racing strenght' Why not have a similar system with a twist here?

i.e Turfontein

Trainer "A" has a large stable - 24 are ready to run at any one time = 6 pre-booked - which means "A" can have upto 6 Horses entered into 6 seperate races and be put straight in. Listed and Group races are excluded.

Smaller Tainers may only get 2-3 BUT all of the Trainers that support that local track are looked after!

So if the trainer wants to prepare a young Colt for a big race 6 weeks away he can make plans with confidence - if someone has to come from a long way off (hint hint lol!) he can make sure it's not a wasted trip.

I really believe that it NEEDS to be done in order to assist both Trainers AND owners in going forward in the Game.

I can also add its also bad to push our marketing of the sales when we have a shortage of races. Poor for owners and trainers and very frustrating.
